Rendered in "DAZ Studio" ... but not really
When I saw the new Nature Trees Pack 1 package in the store, I was kind of excited. New plants are always helpful for dressing up a scene. But I was curious about how they would look in my images. The sample images looked nice. They are even watermarked with "DAZ Studio Render". Cool.
Then I saw the "fine print" in the watermark "With DAZ Studio plug-in in Octane render".
And that mark is on ALL of the promo images. So, basically, since I don't use Octane, I have ZERO idea what the product might look like in DAZ Studio. For my purpose, it might as well have said "Exported from DAZ Studio and rendered in 3DS Max".
I understand if a PA wants to use some 3rd party rendering engines in one or two of their images, but to not include any standard DAZ Studio renders seems silly to me.

The last 3 or 4 promos don't have that watermark. I would assume they were rendered in DAZ Studio, though I can't guarantee it.
The ones with just the trees in them, the watermark is hard to see (at least on this monitor), you could be right. There is no clear indicator.
Pestryakov's products tend to render fine in Daz Studio, just very very slowly. I would assume that this batch of trees is made with many of the same techniques he's used in all of his other woodland products.
Well I don't use DS, but in Poser 8, firefly render, full quality and IBL lights this one tree took 8 minutes to render.
The render looks good, Chohole, thanks. :) I'm sure that Mr. Pestryakov creates quality products.
I think my OP was really more about saying that "DAZ Studio Render" should mean that it is rendered in DAZ Studio, using the 3Delight engine that's in the product. Not "Composed in DAZ Studio, rendered in something else". Someone new to DAZ Studio wouldn't have any clue what "Octane render" is, and might be wondering why their images don't look like the ones in the promo shots.
If something is actually rendered in Octane or Luxrender or some other engine, then (in my opinion), it shouldn't carry the "DAZ Studio Render" watermark.
