Saving partial poses?

How can I save only part of a pose, say for example a character's facial posing, without also saving the rest of the body, so I can apply that facial expression to new characters without causing the rest of their pose to change?

The options dialogue, which appears after setting the name of the saved preset, allows you to select what to include - either by checking in the hierarchy, or by using the commands in the option menu (the lined button part way down on the right).

p.s. what is the etiquette here? I can't decide if it is more polite to say thank you, or to say nothing as long as the solution worked, since saying thank you bumps the post back up unnecessarily...

It's always kool to say thank you IMHO. When problems are solved then the title could be edited adding in a [solved].

Then if one wants to add information to their last post and not bump up the post unnessarily, one goes to the little tool symbol in the upper right corner of the post and selects the edit option.
