Max Samples settings is still broken

Max. samples in Render Settings is still broken.

As a quick test, I disabled the limit on Samples, set it to 35000, Rendering Converged Ratio set to 99%

However, after 2100 samples the render stopped.  Is there a work around or a way to force an Iray render to run for 7 to 9 hours ?

Choose a larger size for your render output.  The smaller the render, the quicker it's done.

It's never been broken. You just have to magically know how to configure it properly...

Yes. To get an Iray render to be limited by time ONLY, use the following values under the Render Settings > Editor > Progressive Render settings menu:

    Max Samples = -1
Max Time = 25200 (7 hours in seconds) or 28800 (8 hours in seconds) or 32400 (9 hours in seconds)
Render Quality Enable = Off (do this instead of changing Rendering Quality or Rendering Converged Ratio. This disables their functionality completely rather than just adjusting when they take effect.)

Making a render run longer isn't necessarily going to make it appear better.

Iray calculates what percentage of pixels are 100% converged and stops the render, no matter what other settings you have set, when it reaches that threshold.

Honestly though, you're doing something else wrong. Those figures look terrible in both the viewport andthe render. Are they Vicky 4 or genesis or some other really old figures? Do they even have Iray textures or are those just the uver shader conversions?

Unless you set Render Quality Enable to Off. In which case it will continue rendering forever - if you let it.

  • @kenshaw011267  These are V4 and 4.2 figures

Genesis figures have too little in the way of free clothing, etc.

I spent $300 on my V4 collection and downloaded a ton of freebies.
