Q: Time Limit in 3Delight?
![Blackbirdx61](https://farnsworth-prod.uc.r.appspot.com/forums/uploads/userpics/050/n2A2F30613350.jpg)
I recently began doing progressive renders in 3Delight; and I've come to realize that I have an acceptable image for my purposes in 30 minutes or less, pretty much every time; but when I use the save button on the rendering image, it only occasionally opens a new window of the current render for me to save. 4/5 time it just throws an error and keeps going; for a another 90minutes or however long the render wants to take. As there is no timeout button for 3Delight on my Daz Client (4.7) I was wondering if there is a script available that would set a max time for the 3Delight render, or if it would be possible to write one; as I have no experiance with DAZ scripting, but I have written some simple code in my life so thats not totally out of bounds.
I hope this is the appropriate forum for this question, but I really cound not think quite where it should go as it is a little outside of the box. TY BB.

Not sure if this woudl be a workaround until such a script arrives, but as I understand it Daz Studio uses it's temp folder to store the ongoingimage, saving it as r.png. If you cancel the render (or even, simply, do a file copy from whataver file management system you have - Explorer for Windows, etc.) then you get what you want.
TY Simon, I'll look into that, I believe the Error message I mentioned points to a file location.
C:\Users\BB\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\temp\render but that folder is empty, both under my profile, and Public user; but I expect I can find it if I run a scan while rendering. It that would be a very acceptable solution if I could find and bookmark the location. Cool TY again Simon, looks like a solid lead.
You can find/change the location of your temp render folder by looking in Edit->Preferences. The "r" file can then be renamed accordingly.
Alternately, you can set your render to "new window". When you cancel the render, this window stays open and you can name and save it.
Just tried a Progressive 3Delight render - maybe I did not make it complex enough o, but did not see a r.png whilst it was in progress, but after I cancelled it did appear in the temp folder. It looks like you have the default location specified (as do I, even though I *thought* I had changed it!). But, then, if you cancel you can save nrmally anyway, so it comes down to if, and where, the file is written whilst the render is in progress.
I should have time to do some testing tomorrow. TY both very much for your time and guidance. Pretty sure this is going work out, and thats going to be a huge help
I understand the OP uses DS 4.7. Unfortunately, in 4.7 when you cancel the render, the window closes. So you need to use the "save last render" from the file menu.
Simon: " But, then, if you cancel you can save nrmally anyway, so it comes down to if, and where, the file is written whilst the render is in progress."
Thanks Sven will check that out. I did find Simon was correct in that the r.png is written at the time you cancel. So I moved that location to subfolder of the Render Library. And I think this is going to work out very well for me.
TY all again very much for your time, and input. It is very much appreciated. BB.
Glad you have somethign that works for you!
