How do I change skin color (pre-lighting)?

Hi -

I'm new to this software (as of today).

Was able to figure out how to get a figure onto the screen and start doing some poses. I love it!

What I haven't figured out yet is how to change base skin color of this Genesis 8 model I'm working with.

I searched the forums but all I could find was people talking about using lighting. I don't want to rely on lighting to change his skin from light to dark because I have other elements I want to add that I want to have a color much different than his skin.

Thanks in advance for your help!

  • If you want to change the colour of an existing material set, rather than use a new character, then you will need to make adjustments in the Surfaces pane (Window>Panes(Tabs)>Surfaces if it isn't already open). In the pane's Editor tab select the Skin group from the list on the left and adjust the colour chip for the Base colour (or it may be labelled Diffuse colour), but bear in mind that driving the value too far from the default can look easily fake. If the skin is using the Iray Uber Base shader (you can see the shader listed at top-left of the pane) you can also darken skin by increasing the Translucence Strength
