Saving dforce once simulated

SO i have an item that i want to save once its simulated, and I want it to be a prop or character in the form its simulated to. How do I save it without the animated timeline and dforce magnets etc.I tried to export as as support asset figure/prop, but when I load it up it loads with timeline.

@wscottart, You have a couple of options.

    1. Create a new Object
      • Hide everything else in the scene so only the simulated item is visible, at the frame of the timeline you like best.
      • Make sure the Mesh Resolution in Parameters is set to base.
      • Export as Wavefront (.OBJ) with a descriptive name.
      • Import the new object.
      • Copy the material settings from the original to your new object. (If you're using Iray, you may need to convert the material zones using the Iray Uber Base first.)
      • Save the new object as a support asset.
    2. Create a Morph.
      • If you Create a new object as outlined above, you'll lose all the existing morphs. That may not be ideal for your situation. The alternative, which won't lose any existing morphs, is to create a morph from the simulation.
      • I have a complete, step-by-step "How To" on converting a simulation into a morph, which you will find here. Once you have create the morph, it is also possible to save it with the item using Save As > Support Asset > Morph Asset(s)…

In most cases, I think creating a morph is the better option.

  • Thank you! The first bullet in your first method above appears to be the key. Hide verything you don't want exported before exporting the item.

Method 2 is of great interest. My main goal was simply to export the simulated mesh for now with out all the other geometry and timelined information. I still can't figure out why it exports all the time line stuff and other geometries when I did not close the eyes on the other items. They were not selected when I chose the export. At any rate original problem overcome.
