OK, I just watched the video, and from what I can see of the material room, it looks exactly like mine.

This looks like a fairly easy method that doesn't use anything special other than connecting new nodes, so I'm going to watch it again and type up some notes. That way I can print them out and have them handy while I'm working.

Thanks for the link sir.

no problem, i stumbled across it a while back and it has helped me a bunch in my texture painting. I tend to like to add custom logos and such to things, so this came in handy

Oh, I never thought about my usual sig layer. That would certainly come in handy.

Thanks for sharing the link Lycan! I use it sometimes as well though haven't in awhile and couldn't recall how to do it anymore LOL

On a different topic, I am working on the conversion to G2F...I hesitated to say I was working on it until I got far enough along to be sure that:

    1) I'd finish (I hate making promises or saying I'll do something and then not doing it :(
    2) To be sure the conversion was going to go ok. I'm having to go through a layer at a time (all 90) and rework/redo certain areas since the shape is very different but so far they are coming out very very similar so YAY! :)

But so expect a Genesis 2 Female version to follow soon *Not DAZ Soon though...Soon Soon* :)

I haven't gotten into G2F/V6 because I don't have DS 4.5/4.6, but this looks like you have a good handle on the conversion. Way to go!!!

Yes it is going fairly well....I think hand painting all the makeup is making the process go smoother. Since I am working on this one and the makeup will be fairly similar or the same, I did speak with Daz and will be offering an extra discount for anyone who buys this one and also wants the Genesis 2 version (You'll get a coupon to get extra off the G2F set) :)

Genesis 2 actually work really well in Poser, I render them there more often than I do in DS now. LOL

I haven't tried Genesis 2 yet in Poser. I pretty much stick with DS for Genesis renders. If I'm gonna use V4 I'll stick with poser

For me it's more the DSON Importer that's stopped me from doing that. I've heard/read a number of complaints from folks having problems with the Importer, so if that's a problem, why should I get even more frustrated than I already am. ~LOL~

I posted a question in the Poser section as well, but if the Genesis 2 figures can take native Poser mats then I *may* consider it. I really don't want to have to go through converting everything to duf, and then converting those to posercf.

Why should I have to take native Poser mats only to convert them to a jerry-rigged method to use them back in Poser anyways? I'd end up with a ton of duplicates.

The importer works quite well now, Genesis 1 is still kinda ugly in Poser but Gen2 is great. The trick with materials is to buy the products that have real Poser mats, not all of them do, you have to read the product pages. (But yes, they can take regular poser mats, if they're real ones made in Poser they don't need all that extra stuff unless it uses a different UV set - so a V6 character that uses V6 mapping would still need that stuff, even if the materials are custom made for Poser it'll still have those extra files to tell it to use the V6 uv mapping, but if it uses the default V5 mapping the Gen2 geometry has then it doesn't need those extra 2 files. You won't see any difference as an end user though unless you go poking around your files.) Because you don't have a working copy of DS 4.6, Miss B, you'd need to be extra careful to only get things that have dson poser files, people who can run DS 4.6 can make the poser companion files themselves if there is an outfit they really like and they're willing to futz with it, but you will need them to come with the product already.

And I'm gonna stop taking over Ann's thread now. =)

All of our packs (but 1 which is Gabriella for Gia I believe) have real Poser and real DS Mats :) We develop in Poser (still to this day..even our Genesis products LOL) and we have Neil and Fisty here who know DS and are nice enough to convert out stuff over to their. So atleast in our case you always get Poser SSS Mats made in Poser and the DS Mats (HSS I think?) in DS plus we try to include mats for DS 3 as well LOL Maybe a bit overkill. That said, doing all that doesnt seem to really help our general character sales much either way...but we do it anyway :)

Yes, I keep a running spreadsheet of all the items I've purchased and downloaded through DIM that lists all the products tags, especially DSON_Poser, though for me those are all Gen1/V5/M5 items. I also check everything on an item's product page to see what's included, so I would know which has native Poser companion files already created.

Oh please, with all your knowledge, I doubt Ann would consider anything you post as an intrusion.

I happen to like your character sets, and have been collecting a lot of them over the years at your own ARTCollaborations site's store, as well as here at DAZ. :coolsmirk:

This set looks marvellous. At last, such pack features both PSDs (very common) AND transparent PNGs (very rare thing to find). It's great news, because not everybody has PhotoShop and using online converters requires much time and effort. I'd love to get hold of this package. The only thing I couldn't find in the description: are freebies covered? That would be the icing on the cake :D!

I must say, I am usually not within the target group for buying a resource kit, as I am usually working way too much and due to that (have to) spend less time on my hobby and customising my characters as of late. Additionally I don't want to sell any of my characters, but this kit got me intrigued nevertheless and the ease of use is really great ... sooo it ended up in my cart anyways ... :)

    Thank you :)

Sadly I put that it wasn't ok on freebies. More because I had two reservations:

    1) If someone uses them on a freebie in public domain and decides to not put any license with it etc, I was worried people could just extract the makeups or build off said freebie thus kinda making the set free..

which brings me to the second concern:

    2) If people use this on merchant packs, I would hate to see the stuff all over the net thus possibly devaluing the pack for commercial use.

Both were brought up to me as why people usually don't and it did make some sense so I was a bit leery. That said, if someone was doing something for charity donations, or they do include licenses with their freebies, I would be open to considering it on a case by case basis so I am not closed off but it was kinda hard to try and outline what may or may not be ok in the readme so I went for no this time around. Future packs I may allow freebie use on if I can sort the best way to handle it or maybe Ill make one specifically for freebies (take the commercial worry or element out of it)

...I just love these resource kits because they help me to personalise and vary my characters more. Not a content creator myself (I could never sell or give away my characters for it would feel like doing so with my kids).

It does feel like that sometimes, especially when you work on a character or a set for a long while so I can relate there :) So glad resource kits like this are useful. I know I used to buy them all the time myself. One of the reasons I wanted to try one...I always enjoyed the ones I got over the years and experimenting with them etc. I wanted to make something maybe someone else would have fun with like I did and I do really love makeup and placements and the theory behind how to apply it well to accentuate various things so I thoroughly enjoy painting them by hand and thinking about those things and thought it would be fun to put that all together in a set (basically put it together the way I do them for my characters LOL) :)

I see. Thank you for replying so soon! It's a great pack nonetheless. It's just a hard thing to start creating skins, because when you are just a newbie, your creations are not good enough to offer them for sale and therefore with the most common licences nobody can test them for you. Fortunately I found a little pack by Biscuits - thank you, Biscuits! I guess I may come back once I stop producing crap :). See you then!

Actually with a license that says you just cant take my base and make your own with it...anyone can test and use your base. They just can't build off of it. Something that should be there to protect even Biscuits set so someone doesn't download your freebie and go cool no license...I can take this and make a free character of my own with this free set I just downloaded when in actuality they would/should buy Biscuits set themselves. (Hope that makes sense) With no license it generally defaults to or can default to a bit of a free for all where people then can use your free item to make their own items and that can cause issues which was why I decided not to allow it on free items unless someone directly contacts me this time around. That said, my answer is not no you can't. It is contact me via PM and we can discuss it :)

Legally, if there isn't a license no one can do anything with a set - but sadly a lot of people just assume the opposite.

Yes, it is a problem. Those who assume the above should try to photomanipulate on DA for a couple of weeks - this would clearly force them to either learn the basic rules of usage or simply drop out of business.
