weird pose deforms after upgrade to 4.12
![alan bard newcomer](https://farnsworth-prod.uc.r.appspot.com/forums/uploads/userpics/940/n180DGD57MI6K.jpg)
1) imported scene subset .. that was just fine when it was saved in 411
2) imported into new scene in 412 whoops deformed like crazy
3) Lilly HD put into scene in 412 from content library
4) same pose applied .. works fine
---
now it may be wonderful that the fix was simple .. but it's not
Lilly HD is PA character
but other characters who are mixtures of a bunch of morphs, the only character file I have is the scene subset I saved of them.
---
on the merge scene presets the deform goes away with the figure restore but comes back when poses are applied.
---
some parameter/setting that is changed from 411 save to 412 merge into scene?

Try this, see if it alters the issue or not... (seems like a corrective issue or glitched and invasive morph)
Save the scene as a new sceene, somewhere you can easily access it and delete it... (desktop)
Re-open the saved sceene, and see if anything-else has changed. (I had morphs that fought over dominance and would toggle on/off or flip-flop, between saves and reloads.)
Save that new scene again, as a new file, but be sure NOT to alter anything. (Look at the file details and see if they are the same exact size as your original. If not, than something is changing with each loading. One of those runaway morphs like I had.)
If the files all seem the same, than I would assume it is just a corrective, or a failing morph loading. Maybe try clearing the CMS database and rebuilding it, as well as clearing your JSON cache, from your properties settings. (Restart Daz after doing that, before trying to reload your scene again. It may still have "data", cached in memory that it uses, instead of the file-data, which it should be using.)
Also, check your models poses and shapes, to see "what is used"... You may luck-out and find the offending morph or slider setting that is causing the issue. Slide them, manually, until the issue goes away, or gets worse. That may point you into a new direction.
Last note... Display the BONES, and see if they have "jumped out of the body"... Some morphs that alter a models SCALE, can break and cause bones to jump out of the body, so all those morphs will no longer match the pulled-off skin and bends. (That usually isn't seen until you reload a model, from a saved file. Like it fails to apply the scale, or does it in a reverse order.)
Okay, it involves characters created in Headshop.. will contact them.
my major bad.. headshop will forgive me for all the nasty thoughts I shot there way.
---
same for xevo, cause it looked like growing up might be the culprit
---
Oh, but look .. brand new right out of the content library .. gen 2, gen 3, and gen 8
same pose (it's a gen 3 pose, so a bit weird on gen 2, pretty good on 8)
but look the issue is genesis 3
---
took me a while to figure the source of the problem
---
now I guess I have to figure out to fix the problem,
any suggestions etc apprecieated I will now uninstall genesis 3 essentials etc.
spent a bunch time to get to this point.
--
attached photo gen2f, gen3f, gen8f, gen3m
all with the same gen3f pose applied.
---
though the problem was with some characters I'd saved as scene subsets but it is apparently just in the g3 female base.
---
I did uninstalled the genesis3 female starters and reinstall .. but no change still same distortion
---
current used morphs on g3 female are Mouth Resolution HD and Navel
----
clothes were added after posing (to meet community standards) to ensure that the clothes weren't the issue... clothes set is for g3female
----
posting here because the big brains seem to gather here.
---
first day to play with daz in a while and all I've done is swear at the computer and whatever I thought was causing the problem at the time.
---
I'd be curious to know more about this, too. I ran into a few problems with hands and feet not posing properly, though I haven't had time to sit down and try to figure out what's actually causing it, or when specifically it happens.
Isn't the middle one Gen-2? The one with the flat, non-glossy, skin and shark-bitten ankles...
Oops, I was thinking Gen-3, but said Gen-2... (Seeing Gen-3 in your post as Gen-8)
Is the pose for Gen-8? If that is the case, it may be your issue. Gen-8 has new bends and deforms that I think only Gen-3 shares similarity to and Gen-1/2 do not have those extra bones. Poses are not compatable across model generations.
Threads merged.
That looks like joint centre adjustments being aplied when they shouldn't be - either directly or through a non-zero morph (did you hae Show Hidden Properties on in the Parameters pane option menu when checking Currently Used?)
as I mentioned I uninstalled gen3f essentials and reinstalled
last night I redownloaded it.
Just uninstalled gen3f essentials.. but I didn't uninstall her.
She's still there..... If the problem is a corruption in the base figure... which is all I have been using for the test, how do replace it?
---
in the default pose there are only [render subd level minimum =2] --- [Mouth Realism HD =100%] [Navel = 100%]
the hidden morphs all 23 million of them seem to be set at zero (wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to have all the zero points line up?)
---
so at this point I have essentials uninstalled, still have a g3 female (in the base library .. daz recommended location), and still have the issue.
---
so how, or is it possible, do I get rid of this current g3f and start fresh? by reinstalling the starter essentials
I had this deformation problem myself, and found a workaround: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/361041/having-trouble-with-saving-a-pose-for-genesis-8#latest
Hope that helps!
sigh, I think my issue is it's the figure that's broken .. not the pose
as the pose will work on 2 (sort of) 3 male and 8 female but not on 3 female
---
here's the result of following you directions which may work with a trouble some pose but sadly, not with a troublesome figure.
Have you checked "Currently used" on the figure giving you issues? to see what is being used?Cause it looks like mulitiples of adjustments ...if that makes any sense
it's the default gen3 female .. that doesn't work.. gen2female, gen8 female, even gen3 male work with the same poses.. (not perfectly with gen2f ) but they work
---
and the figure is a fresh out of the box gen3 female.. I think the only morphs are mouth realism and navel.
----
current project is gen2 ...
the base character the little twins girl with lots of morphs, growing up, thighs and shins longer from genx genesis morphs and works fine...
--
this is very much work in progress. but I've used a couple out of the box poses.. one to start the pulling on a boot and then a lot of tweaking.. it's hard to see but same charcter is also riding the dragon with a genesis horse rider pose and all working..
---
only gen3f is driving me crazy at this point.
Are you using a pose for a different generation on the G3F?
A fresh out of the box load will in fact ahve anything with a non-zero default applied, and will have any ERC links active, so if this is down to ERC that should aply only in combination with certain shapes applying always or a non-zero default using a default figure won't stop it.
I'd just submit the pose that is giving you grief, along with the details of the issue, to a support-ticket. Though, from the sounds of it, a hidden "correction" may be the guilty party here. It may be corrupt or just incorrectly triggered. Since it only happens on this specific base-model.
This released version of Daz, as it seems, has some unresolved issues in various places. To me, it seems like something went wrong in the preparations for release and possibly a "compile setting", or two, needs some adjustment. This release version is not acting anything like the beta version that it was derived from. There is definitely something wrong in this specific release.
As far as I can see it's not a morph that's the issue, and the odds are that it is some klind of issue with an add-on character. Until that can be elminated submitting a ticket against the pose, or blaming DS, is premature.

as Richard mentioned it's not the pose... because it happens with every pose I've tried so far. And the Poses work with genesis, genesis 2, genesis 3 male, and genesis 8. Poses from different PAs
and the one used on the generic genesis 3 are the default ones that load with it.
----
If this was happening with my created characters with morphs etc, I could understand there being a problem with something I'm using.
But this is straight out of the content library Genesis 3 female.
Is it possible that a new product could change a parameter in that figure?
----
But between the time I created the characters that I first saw the issue in created and used Aug 2, and Nov 5 when I first saw the issue .. I purchased and installed no Genesis 3 female items.
A couple gen 8 items and the gen3 to gen 8 male converter.
----
I think I have a daz 10 on another computer that hasn't been upgraded .. I can see what happens over there.. after I set up the computer.
----
How do I look for a morph that didn't cause the issue in the past.
And since it happens with stock gen3 female who should have no morphs applied... where do I look for something.
----
what is considered an add-on character?
Lilly HD for gen3 would be an add-on character .. she doesn't work anymore .. but neither does genesis 3.
but Lilly HD for gen8 works. But my tweaked character was build on lilly3.
---
final update... don't ask me to explain trouble shooting instincts that I've used in programming and everything else over the years but a little voice will say something like "okay, this changed with the install of 412 pro and 411 and 410 are affected also. But what about 412 the public build"
And that's pretty much what I did.
I opened 412public and loaded my scene subset based on g3 with a lot of other morphs and then I loaded LillyHD3 and thats the first attached picture and lo, everything in the posing works, the saved preset Ginger looks just like she did when I saved the scene subset.
The second picture is the Ginger scene subset loaded in to 412Pro with LillyHd3 loaded in and the same poses applied to them, and lo and behold, it's all messed up.
So what file did the 412 pro upgrade change?
And while I haven'd done a timing... 412 pro does have really extended loading times.
---
So I guess I submit a ticket.
---
but the good news is my saved presets are good as long as I don't load the 413 public which will probably be based on the 412 pro which is busted for g3female to some degree.
---
In terms of trouble shooting.. this issue is caused by something 412Pro does with gen3f that 412Public doesn't ...
and Daz probably wonders why we prefer to installed programs under our control..
I'm not sure what you mean for "pro" and "public" and/or "413 release". Actually there are two 4.12 pro releases. The 4.12.0.86 general release, and the 4.12.1.16 beta release. Which one does work for you ?
the public is the Beta.. 412 Beta is working with my g3fs.. 412 pro is messing up the g3fs ...
---
the comment about the 413 is that when it comes out .. if it's based on 412 pro, which would be logical, I can't try the Beta because it installs itself out of DIM and would of course overwrite the program 412 public beta, which still does my g3f characters.
--
the file folders in Daz3d folder are listed as Pro and Public ...
Then it means this issue is fixed in the beta, though it seems to me there's nothing related in the log .. That's odd but good to know, thank you !
As for 4.13 I guess the beta will become the new 4.12 release first, so it'll be good.
Are the content paths identical in the Public Build and General Release? If not it could be that the Public Build is not finding a "bad" file, because it's in a content directory that isn't hooked up, or that there are "good" and "bad" versions of the same file and a difference in order emans the Public Build finds and loads the "good2 version while the General Release finds and loads the "bad". You could also try clearing the DSON cahce (through Edit>Preferences) in the General Release
don't think I've ever done anything different for content paths... public/beta does it's own install ...
---
and of course the paranoid programmers question.. If I clear the cache in the general release, it wouldn't touch the betas?
---
and I do use the DIM to install all daz content ... and the base stuff would be in the suggested daz folder.
---
do they keep separate log files? But then I never get any warnings other than the ubiquious "duplicate formulas" were found ... but that happens with everything and has gone on for years...
The first time I saw it was with a building built out of several hundred daz cubes turned into 2x4s.
I thought they had their own DSON caches but no, it's a common location (by default) - so don't delete it, though it seems innocent anyway if one of the DS versions using it is correct and the other isn't. The two versions do use separate settings, including content diectory paths (hence my earlier question), so the issue is most likely related to soemthing that is different there.
my bad in my explaination... g3f (and posing for it ) worked in 410 pro, 411 pro, and the 412 beta... when 412 pro installed it changed something and now the g3f figures only work in 412 beta.
My comment about the 413 beta was that when if comes out (or is it.. don't keep up with that much.. must not be.. it's not in my download que) when the 413beta comes out it would be based on the current 412 pro and that would take out my ability to access the scene subsets I've done in the past based on g3f
good question .. at some point Daz gave me two folders in my document library... but I have no idea why it did .. and where DIM puts items ...
