Locating the affected area of the dformer field?

Hello. I enjoy using the dformer tool on just about anything. Sometimes I have the resize it, or move it around in order to see where the field is currently influencing (what's red, yellow, etc). But recently I've had a few instances where I just can't find the field's influence, so I have no idea how to begin repositioning and resizing it in order to deform the figure/prop specifically as I wish.

Hope that makes sense. Thank you very much.

If the item is very low poly it can be hard to notice the dots, taht's about the only tme I've had any issue finding the field.

Ah, that could explain it, thanks. Still wish there was a solution

I think the only solution is to increase the density of the mesh..

In essence the d-former field shows the affected vertices.

And you also need these extra vertices for the mesh to deform.
