Making HDRI image from flat map
![Anki](https://farnsworth-prod.uc.r.appspot.com/forums/uploads/userpics/114/nAAZPX8DNKI28.jpg)
I just spent a whole day looking for this...
I want to make a seamless image for use as hdri image.
I have the map, made in photoshop, but when I make it into a 3d ball, it pinches the poles.
I know there's a filter somewhere that distorts the image, so you can then make it into a ball without the poles pinching.
Here's an example of what it does :
Base image
End result
Anyone know ?
Thanx ahead

You need to create a spherical map of the image, I don't have PS but there should be a filter that converts from rectangular to polar or something along those lines.
Yes, this feature is found in filter > distort > polar coordinates : rectangular to polar.
However, this results in an ugly pinch at the poles.
There is a way to avoid this by morphing the image before that. But I can't remember what.

Thanks.
It's not the same thing as the filter I was looking for, but it's a good enough workaround.
