Lion has no mane.

I purchased the Felidae by AM - Lion but am unable to see a mane on the lion. Looking through the information, it appears I must purchase yet another product in order to do that. This was NOT stated on the page for this product. This seems rather a nasty way of getting additional purchases. Why am I not able to render a lion with a mane with the product I purchased? Maybe I'm missing something, as I'm by no means an expert with DAZ3D Studio, but I'm learning. I just can understand why the mane is not visible with the product, when it cleary states that it is. Must I spend more  money to get the mane? if so, can I get a refund, because I did not expect to have to buy more to do so. Thanks.

The Felidae lion includes 2 versions of the hair in the base product:

    • A LAMH version for 3DL : to use this you will need the LAMH free player or LAMH full program
    • A LAMH Catalyzer version for Iray: to use this you will need the LAMH Catalyzer, which is stated in the product description ("Catalyzer version 1.8 required for use with the Iray Figures")

If you don't have the Catalyzer and want to have a mane in Iray you can also use the LAMH player to export the 3DL version as obj and then reimport the obj in your scene to render. The Catalyzer version has more details though.

The mane itself isn't an add, not from what I can tell from the product page, the add on is just to make the mane and fur dforce (dynamic)- is that the add on you are refering to.

LAMH doesn't render in Iray without some extra steps, some of AM's LAMH fur sets have been converted to use with the catalyzer (is that the ad on you refer to), this is the easiest route but you can also export the fur to obj and reimport, this is very resource heavy, and render that way.

Yes you can return the item for a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

There are other Lions availble HIvewire have one with a transmapped mane.

I have, as far as I can tell, the LAMH free player, but how when I add the male lion to a scene, I don't see a mane. Is there something I need to change for my view? Or does it only appear in the render?

PS: I tried rendering in 3DL, still no mane.
Also, I open the LAMH pane, but everything is grayed out except the "Get More Presets!" button. But I don't even understand what that is for. Sorry, but up to this point with Daz3D, I've been rendering single characters, and a dragon. These all appeared andd I was able to pose and shape as needed, to get the scene I wanted, then render. I am guessing this requires more steps, but I'll be danged if I can figure out what.

Which lion figure did you load? There are several versions included in the pack, including one without hair.

Sorry I don't have the product so I'm not sure.

Look in Help>about installed plugins to chack to see if the LAMH player is installed and activatesd.

I trying the figure with a mane. I've tried all I see listed, none appear with a mane. I checked and the LAMH Free Player is installed and active. I can open Window->Panes->Look at my hair, but the window that opens is all grayed out as described above. If there are presets in the product package, where are they located on my drive?

I see a folder called \DAZ 3D\Studio\lookatmyhairAM\presets, but it is empty.

It might save future purchasers who run into the same issue a lot of headaches and wasted effort if you documented what you did to resolve the issue.

I am assuming that the free player is the same as the full plugin, been a long time since I used the free version. Open the LAMH tab, click attach preset, then navigate to the preset folder and click on it.

Oh wait, that product has LAMH loads for 3DL, and catalyzer loads for iray. I don't see any LAMH presets, just those loads. I have no idea if the iray load will work without catalyzer. From the way it is named, I would say you need catalyzer and not just LAMH free or paid, can't test it as I have catalyzer installed.

  • Hi folks, as all my products the models come with dedicated figures for LAMH or Catalyzer (and dForce hair for the latest one, the lion). Simply load the one you need directly from the Content Library: if you have LAMH (Free Player or full version), load the 3DL LAMH figure; if you have the Catalyzer, load the Iray Catalyzer version; if you want to use native Studio hair, load the dForce version. Hope this helps...

  • Got the same problem. The first thing I always do before buying stuff is checking Required Products:

There was none, so very strange. Even more strange because this Catalyzer thing is a paid add-on so it should be at least in the required product field.

I doubt its actually required, it just makes the rendering in Iray procedure easier, the only real requirment for the LAMH fur would be the free LAMH Player (the full LAMH full version is also a paid for product)
