Dragging body parts causes an initial 'drop' of the entire body a few inches

Greetings,
I'm not sure how to explain this, but I often pose characters by just grabbing their hand and 'dragging' it to where I want it to be.

Whenever I do that, the first start of the drag causes the main body to drop a few inches, which completely screws up posing and their relationship to other parts of the scene. So then I have to over-compensate the posing, then lift the entire body up, only to have it happen again as soon as I try to move the other hand.

It's REALLY frustrating, and I was wondering if I just have something wacky set, or if everyone experiences this... I can load Teen Josie into a blank scene, grab the hand with the mouse, and move it slightly, and it 'bumps' down.

Which tool are you using to move with? I use Universal for that and it only affects the bone chain as it should. No body drop on my PC.

The universal tool causes it also.

This made me go through some of my figures to try and understand what causes it; I know I've had the problem with other figures, but right now the base G2F, G2M, and G all don't show the problem, but Teen Josie 6 definitely does.

Here's a video of the problem in action: http://youtu.be/NqcwRdCcsnw

It only affects movements that involve translation; rotation doesn't seem to trigger it. Is there something broken in my instance of TJ6?

Hmmm... that could be a scale issue on the rig or maybe the weight mapping. But I'm not sure...

EDIT and it would be one figure I never bought.. Sorry can not check just the one figure morph... Need others to look.

Is she walking on sunshine or something?

Why is she floating? Try Ctrl-D/Move to Floor before you first try posing her.

I'm afraid I don't understand your question. She's not floating at all, she's just been loaded into an empty scene. With every other character (not based on her) I can load it into an empty scene, grab the hand, and move it around without the body dropping through the floor.

Further, if I drag the left hand, then let go, then drag the right hand (or anything, really) it drops again. It keeps dropping by a tiny bit every time I try to perform a translation action on any individual part.

I don't get the 'is she walking on sunshine' question, other than the song reference; it's a figure loaded into a scene, at zero. I move her, she drops. I Undo, and try again...and she drops again. If I don't undo, she'll keep dropping (well under the Floor) until I give up. I have tried Move to Floor, although I couldn't be sure it had been before posing her at all, so I just tested that, and it doesn't make any difference unfortunately.

Does she not behave that way for you, if you have her?

She is actually a tiny bit above the floor...at least at first load.

Ok...load her up, then without doing anything, go to the Parameters pane and make sure that nothing is out of place...or being used that shouldn't.

Then open the Tool Options and see what the settings are for the Universal manipulator...make sure snapping isn't enabled...

Ressurect: Nope; it was never fixed, or solved.  I simply stopped using Teen Josie 6.  TJ7 doesn't have the issue. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just tested it in 4.9, problem's still there.  Grab a hand, move it down, and it drops down a smidge.  Let go, then move it down again, and it drops again.  Is just broke-den. :(
