dForce question

Is there a way to use dForce simulation on only one outfit in a scene that contains 2 or more different dForce outfits? I did a dForce simulation on a female’s clothes, added a male and then did a dForce simulation on his clothes. But when I did, she went to her default pose and her clothes started the simulation all over again too.

There are a few ways of doing this, but the easiest is to just make invisible/hide everything that you don't want to apply dForce to. I assume you know how to click on the 'eye' icon in the scene pane to hide items or parts? If not ask, it's easy to do.

For example a scene with one G8M, one G8F (both wearing dForce clothing) and some props. First make invisible (hide) all the props that don't touch the clothing, unless the prop needs to affect the clothing, such as a floor or chair.

Next hide one character and any clothing/hair, etc they have. You may also want to hide any hair/lashes, etc on the remaining figure to speed up the simulation.

Now simulate the scene, and wait. When that's done, hide the simulated clothes and that figure, and UNHIDE the second figure and its clothing.

DO NOT SELECT 'CLEAR SIMULATION' at any stage in this process, just re-select 'Simulate'.

Unhide everything, and it should get what you want, probably with some trial and error.

If you still have problems, ask again, as many people here will be happy to help. smiley

You can selectively clear simulation. I'm not at my PC right now and I have a Custom Action for it so I don't need to look for the option but, from memory, I think it is a right-click on the Simulation tab and look for the dforce options for clearing a single item.

@Marble, you are correct. I wanted to provide LD1 with enough simple directions for them to get started, then they can go from there.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your answer - it is just something I learned about after a long time of cursing the "Clear All" button. I was ver pleased to find out about that hidden gem.

    Thanks - that works!

yes Glad to hear that, LD1. If you look (or ask) around, there are lots of useful threads on using dForce.

All what the above posters said plus you can freeze the sim of individual items.

By default it is off. Once you set it ON the item will not be simulated anymore.

But, like the others said, hiding the items you don't want to sim is anyway good idea. It saves time because hidden items will not be calculated.

Also attached is a screenshot of where the "Clear Sim individually" menu is.

Freeze Simulation is incredibly useful. I use it all the time. smiley

With Freeze active the item will not be re-simulated but if it's visible it will go through all the movments (basically it plays back the sim it has calculated before). Other items that are not frozen will interact with it. That's a good way to layer clothing, or for placing a figure with dForce clothing on a dForce towel or whatever.
