Strange Hair deformation

I followed the standard tutorial to transfer the Selena hair from G3 to G8 yet when I try and apply it to a character (who is shorter than te norm), I get this.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this mess?

  • Is the character shorter? It may be failing to project the morph into the hair areas thata re more distant from the base sahpe. In general it's often better not to AutoFit - you can either use Edit>SceneID to make the hair directly compatible with Genesis 8 Female (I assume the 6 was a typo) or you can simply parent the hair to the head.

Vertigo ponytail doesn’t properly scale with the figure, meaning that if you shorten the character it’s on, the actual ponytail will just be floating in space, so it’s possible that this is just a failing of the particular hair you’re using. Have you experienced the same issue with other hairs?

Who or what is "G6"? What do you consider to be the "standard tutorial"? It's hard to help when we don't know exactly what you've done or are trying to do.

If Richard is right and you're converting from G3F to G8F, try following this tutorial (there's a bit halfway down about hair): http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/Tutorial-Convert-Clothing-G3-to-G8-G8-to-G3-686682065

She is shorter and I transfered it by exactly the method you are suggesting. I even did a skeletal transfer And 6 was a typo. She's Gen8

I did. I use that technique extensively.

It's probably the same issue because I've never had a problem like this before.

    Transfer rigging.

Why do you do atransfer rigging, if you have changed the scene identifier?

My guess is, it is the transfer rigging causing this.

Just parent the hair and fit it using the xyz dials, and smoothing if necassary.

Shoulders are different in G3 and G8 and it can cause some hairs to lay oddly. All transfer rigging does is make the bones match up.

Also, directly transfering it by simply just changing the identifier doesn't fix the problem.
