nice work. A stagger pattern for blocks would be useful for walls.

What I'm doing is putting the VMats provided by NVidia into "containers" with a few extra controls added on, to make D/S shaders and a corresponding shader preset. Same as I did for the Carpets 101.

With those added controls yes, one can make tiling variations and these should be useful for cement tiling walls, floors, etc. With one variation it came close to the appearance of an open spiral notebook!

i would love to have a concrete floor that looked like an open spiral notebook.

    truly.

first of all, thanks a lot! :D - one can never have enough concrete ^^

and thanks to this/you, i finally came around to dl the nvidia mats.. i always postponed it, but now i had a good reason, and great explanations about where to put what, it was so easy!

just one tiny little thing.. i put everything exactly as shown - i mean the nvidia mats installed themselves, but they are in documents etc - including the EAP folder. and your duf presets, same as usual in my library. but when i create a sphere/cube and pick a preset.. nothing happens. white. restarted DS, nuttin'. what am i doing wrong?

EDIT: actually.. now that those nvidia mats are installed, am i even supposed to see them all in my shaders, or do they need to be "called" by a preset/an application as you did right with this here?

    You're quite welcome.

Yes the NVidia .mdl files are in Documents. Just leave 'em and ignore 'em. The other files call for them.

The .duf presets are all what will be seen in D/S. Remember these are Shader presets so on the Surface Tab, the surface to have the Shader Preset applied to, must also be selected.

weird. i did select the surface in the tab, as usual for shaders.. do you think i'd need to "refresh" my nvidia components or whatever by switching my laptop off/on?

EDIT: well restart at least didn't help a bit.

EDIT 2: eureka! now it works - all i had to do was to add the documents/mdl path in the shader mixer pane! i found this in the readme from MCDlabs "vMaterials 1.5 AEC IRay Shaders" from sharecg. i had bookmarked their awesome freebie months (years?) ago, but only downloaded it today since i finally got the nvidia requested materials... and it was written there,

"You need to open the "Shader Mixer" Pane.
In that pane click on Edit > MDL Directory Manager
select "Base Paths" and then "ADD" a Directory.
Select the directory above. click "Accept"

NOTE: These will NOT work if you do not add the additional mdl directory. The mdl files included in DAZStudio are diferent than these ones, These are maintained by NVidea and abide by thier standards."
