About drawing with this tool.

I have question about this tool: When I downloaded those free models I saw that option for interactive license. My question: If I make my own models can I use them commercially without that Interactive license.

Another thing: So this tool is for rendering models? Do I need Blender or other 3D drawing tool to make those own models?

If by "this tool" you mean Daz Studio, then indeed it's not a modelling application, you would need another application to create the mesh.

    Regarding commercial use:
If what you want is create images or movies that you would sell then it's covered by the basic licence.
Interactive licence is for when you use the 3D models in a game. If you use your own models (as in, something that you created yourself completely from scratch) then you don't need an interactive licence. If it's something that would be based on content from here, like for example a character you created from a Genesis figure, then you need the license for that content to use it in a game.

It also depends on what you mean by “make your own models”. If you’re sculpting the mesh and painting your textures from scratch, then there's basically no restriction on what you can do with it. If you’re using existing morphs and textures, then you would be bound by whatever license those products use. You can’t just combine existing morphs and claim the result as your own original product, unless those morphs are explicitly merchant resources.

Thanks for info. It was Daz Studio I am asking about.

Another Question: Can I use Blender to make models for this game? That free 3D application.

    What game?

  • Yes, you can use Blender to create models, then export as OBJ (or FBX, but it won't usefully carry rigging over), and set up in Daz Studio.

I am still learning to program games. I have made three games. All without 3D graphics. Basic text adventures. Last one I made have sound and video effects.

  • If you just want images for your game  -stills or pre-rendered animations - then you don't need an interactive license for the content, it's only if you include the actual 3D data (or a derivative of it) that you need the additional license.
