If the forumarchive comes back, somebody with more time than me really should go through it and find all the still-working freebies, so we have a list of what needs to be salvaged...

The last time I successfully got to a page on the archive it took 16 tries to get there...

The sad thing is that it seems to have gotten worse/slower since Google has been directly able to get to it...I think it may be all the search engine bots bringing it down. It doesn't seem to have a very high bandwidth allowance and too much activity WILL cripple it.

Well DAZ did sort of announce that there will be new forums coming "soon" since these are not working out as they thought. Perhaps they are working on creating an archive area for the older forums data to reside in?

DAZ 3D are aware that it is down and have plans to bring it back, but don't expect it to be today, please.

Yup, still down, not that I visit the forum archives all that often, but now and then it's nice to have it available.

May be weather related. Massive snow and ice storm in the east.

It's been periodically disappearing and getting progressively slower over the past few weeks, so it's not likely to be weather related...but it probably isn't helping things much, either.

Anyone else notice that when the weather is bad, the internet as a whole, seems to slow down? (Must be all the kids being off school/people home from work that have nothing else to do all day...)

The soon announced was last autumn ... uhm.
    They did NOT say 2014!

Well we all know that "DAZ SOON" is really from now till the end of eternity. Trust me I have NO expectations of WHEN this will happen! lmao

Here I'll use my magic and peer into the future for us all... waves hands around making odd symbols in the air while mumbling what sounds like a Beetles song sang backwards...

Wiat, wait, I think I see something. Yes, yes I do!

Ouch!! It was the end of a sharp pointy stick...

I'll not try that again DAZ Soon.

Thereby proving that getting the Archived forum back, would be better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick.

To be honest - given that the "old" forums dealt largely with POSER-related stuff, I'm not holding my breath in hoping DAZ will place a whole lot of resources into finding and solving the problem :( Maybe the office janitor, when they're not dusting the desks ?? :(

Never believe anything posted about the store or the forums until you actually see it implemented. We joke about "DAZ Soon", but few will argue that DAZ has a habit of announcing grandiose plans that they end up being unable to fulfill, and the fact that we're still getting glitch sales on a regular basis is a good indicator that they're still playing catch up.

That said, given how often the excuse for the lack of adequate documentation on DAZ products is deflected with variations on the phrase "you can find it in the forum/forum archives", I would imagine that it would be both quicker and cheaper for DAZ to somehow restore the old forums than to actually propagate all that information professionally, so if it CAN be restored, it probably will be.

The old forums dealt with exactly the same sort of content as do these forums. Daz Studio, Bryce, Carrara, Hexagon etc etc, with some poser related stuff and also stuff from other non DAZ 3D programs as well.

They also allowed in line image posting making the Tutorials found on it MUCH better for users to follow. One thing I hope we get when this forum is updated at the time it gets updated. In line images work so much better for explaining things.

Gawd I hope not. Almost daily my search for answers to questions inevitably point me to the forum archives and inevitably I can never connect to the page. It would be tragic loss to lose such a wealth of information.
