Many problems with Daz - please Help!!

Hi.

I initially downloaded Daz 4.5x and built some characters, purchased some clothes etc. It was all working well.

I reinstalled Daz after messing up moving the libraries but the new version of Daz 4.6 does not have M4 and V4 characters (so the assets I've purchased are incompatible) and also there are NO SHAPING morphs included for Genesis or Genesis 2, the panel is blank...

Problems:

1. No M4 or V4 characters after reinstall from 4.5x to 4.6 (so assets I purchased are useless, although I have just purchased "Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male")

2. NO SHAPING morphs included for Genesis or Genesis 2

3. A purchased character doesn't seem to work (textures do but morphs for body and head do nothing, even though advertised as being compatible with Genesis. I tried this with V4 before the upgrade but the morphs didn't work.)

Please help! :)

Have you directed DAZ Studio to the directory where you have installed all your content?

I think I now have the directories linked correctly, both for Daz Studio and the Install Manager . "Daz Studio Formats" goes to "Documents/Daz 3D" and "Poser Formats" goes to "Documents/My DAZ 3D Library".

    Is this correct?

Is it normal to be missing V4 and M4 in 4.6?

Also is it normal to not have ANY modifiers under the Shaping tab for Genesis and Genesis 2??

Either Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library or Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library. Both Poser and DAZ Studio content can go to the same folder - DS will be able to distinguish them by the way they are arranged within the folder.

Your content from previous installations should not be touched, so if you had M4 and V4 before the update they will still be installed in the same location. Be sure that Daz Studio knows where to find your content folder under Preferences. If you did not own M4 and V4 beforehand, then these are not given freely with the Daz Studio purchase. The new 'free' figures are the Genesis range.

Genesis should have multiple shaping options as default, including male female and child morphs. The Genesis 2 figures have minimal morphs and will require further purchases to make the most out of them.

I deleted the contents when I uninstalled 4.5 (which came with V4 and M4) assuming it would reinstall as it was, however when I reinstalled 4.6 had just been released so the scenes using those characters became useless...

Is there any way to downgrade to v4.5??

If you deleted your content folders downgrading wont help, and I don't believe V4 or M4 where included with DS 4.5.

Thanks, after checking the directory paths and reinstalling once more the purchased character is working fully and I have the Shaping panel options back!

I don't know why I had V4 & M4 then, I'd never used or installed Daz before. Hopefully the “Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male” plugin will work fully!

So can any manually installed content (eg free items) just unzipped to Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library ??

Thanks for your very fast responses!

Hopefully the “Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male” plugin will work fully!

Note that this isn't the M4 figure, and it isn't a plugin. It's a morph setting that gives G2M a M4 morph shape, you can dial it up or down to whatever value you need.

You should not try to install freebie content to your main DS content library. It is not that you can't it is just freebies can have some of the worst file and folder structures I seen. Content from other stores may have question file and folder structure also. I find it best to make a new library for every different store/site source.

Thanks "SpottedKitty" and "jestmart" - good advice.

I've had problems with the “Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male” morph set seeming not working at all with Jeans M4 and M4 Dynamic Polo Shirt.

I actually started a new topic here: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/37141

    ( Problem with fitting “Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male” + “Jeans M4” )
