Make normal map from bump map?

Is it possible to bake a normal map out of a bump map? I have a character with skin that has "Base Bump" but no normals. For export to an engine, I'd like to try it out with normal mapping rather than bump. I suppose bump simply modulates the vertex along the normal, whereas normal actually changes ... the normal at the vertex. Example of the bump map that comes with the character is shown:

Have a look at this thread - https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/370591/how-do-you-make-normal-maps#latest
And to answer your question, yes you can.
yeah i would love to know that too, because while i was using the normalmap online but using bump maps to generate normal maps on this make the "detail" too strong on the skin making the "pores" look's too visible.
, i would like to know another ways to do that.
You can turn down the normal strength in the Surfaces pane. Also, most tools for generating the normal map have controls to adjust that. Play around some more.
Finally got around to trying this. Works great, thanks.
