If you need a character who wears their hair two different ways, the best way to get a match is to copy across the materials (although the textures may need adjusting to work better for the UV layout, and you generally want to keep the opacity maps for the target hair).

Once you've done that, most straight hair styles of around the right length should look like a match.

OOT seems to use the same textures across most of his(?) hairstyles. When I need a character that wears different hairstyles I default to that collection. I have paired Alice and Leony with good results, IMO.

Alice would b good, considering it has wet options like Leony. What about Sara or Elyse? I don't have the bestd eyesight, so i need help. lol

Or use a hair shader like Hinkypunk's on two different styles. Even with two different vendors, a hair shader will force them to look the same.

i just wanted to say thanks for this tip, i read it earlier and bought Hinky's, which has been quite useful since - i've been using it with combined styles, e.g. Amber and Sue together to change the way the hair frames the face, or adding the fringe from Classic Bob to a longer style etc. - thank you! you saved me hours of messing around with the colour picker and editing textures in photoshop.

That's what I do too. It takes a bit of work and little knowledge of shader/texture nodes but this method works just fine for me.
