hi,
i have a problem with the asset 'MRL dForce Long Morphing Hair for Genesis 8 Female(s)' and need help.
link to asset: https://www.daz3d.com/mrl-dforce-long-morphing-hair-for-genesis-8-females
when i load this asset in the viewport, i only have a shadow of the hair.
and rendermode:
i have no idea how i get the missing hair part.
what i tryed:
checking for requirements -> does'nt have one
checking description -> no information
checking internet for a solution -> without success
checking logfile -> empty
reinstall over install manager -> nothing change
reinstall over daz connect -> same result
downloadet manuel -> same result
reinstall daz 3d -> nothing new
so my guess are the asset are corrupt or not compledet.
or do i miss something? i have no cloue.

I think I remember reading to get dforce hair to show up right outside of rendering, you need to turn tesselation to at least 2. Actually, reading description, I am thinking that don't apply to that hair. The tessalation thing is for the new strand based hair system, and I don't think that hair is using that system.
the hair doesn't exist in and out render mode. This is a long Hair Asset and the only thing you see is the skalp doing the render mode.
using hair color doesn't work too, daz3d can't find the hair.
Which version of DS do you use? dForce hair requires at least 4.11
Render in Iray.
using DS 4.12.0.86
I'm surprised, i didn't know there is difference between 'NVIDIA Iray Mode' and 'Spot Render Tool'. The hair are visible in the Spot Render Tool. What exactly is the difference between those two Modes?
but why i can't use a different hair color?
i got the following log message:
"Invalid hierarchy for selected node(s) and "preset_hierarchical_material" type; no root(s) found.
Error reading file, see log for more details." <- does it mean the log file in which it is written or is there another log file with more information? Because there are no information.
the error doesn't make sense, these are on every node in this hair. also it's not possible to chance the color over the surface menu.
For a hierachical preset you must select the chracter to apply the hair colors.
No, you can select the hair - but it must be aprented to the figure it was made for, not unparented and not parented to a different figure.
why this hair not work for me?
We need more information about what you are doing and what is happening.
I regret that I had to return this hair for refund for the same problem.
Hair does not show in any view or in the render.
It's not a bug, just a quirk of how dForce hair works. It doesn't show in anything but the actual render by default. I get tons of lag in DS when I have dForce hair set to show, so I assume that's part of the reason it works that way. To see dForce hair in the viewport or in Iray preview mode, the setting Preview PR Hairs needs to be switched to 'On' and Line Tesselation should be set to a value higher than 0 (I ususally use 2 or 3). Both of those controls are found in the Parameters tab when the hair is selected. I hope that helps you!
Sorry, didn't catch this question before.
I wasn't using NVIDIA Iray Mode, I use Texture Shaded and then the Spot Render Tool renders as per the settings be they for Iray or 3Delight. I was using Iray.
Thanks Quixotry
Had to set the Viewport Line Tessellation Sides to 3 on the MRL DFLM_Base (Not the Scalp) to actually see this hair correctly.
Wish this was by default so people wouldn't think its a duff product.
