Iray on osx with > High Sierra Version and nvidia card?

So while going down a rabbit hole investigating buying a new mac pro, I'm coming across posts claiming after 10.13.6, cuda ceases to be a thing for osx. Does this mean that my gtx 980 will no longer be able to render daz scenes if I update my system (currently high sierra)?  Also nvidia docs state https://docs.nvidia.com/cuda/cuda-installation-guide-mac-os-x/index.html (10.13 is required).

Anyone have > 10.13 and still rendering iray scenes using a nvidia gpu?

10.13.6 works (my main render box), going beyond that to 10.14 or beond) no nVidia drivers will work AFAIK The thing is from  10,14.x (unsure which version), apple requires drivers to be signed by Apple to be able to load them and Apple refuses to sign nVidias drivers.

I know some people have been hacking around that, but aby system update will stop it again.

The split between Apple and NVidia appears to be definitive now, and we're very unlikely to see NVidia supported on Mac ever again. Obviously, if there were some compelling business reason, Apple might reverse their decision, but for now it looks unlikely. Which means that you're pretty much stuck with High Sierra.

eGPU.io is often a good source of information on what will and won't work.

a number of sites have reported macOS 10.15.2 has mangled eGPU operation outside of the AMD Vega series, not that AMD's are going to help in any way with DS. Nvidia cost apple millions on recalls when the 2008 MBP's were failing with the 8600GT's. They have not gotten a Christmas card from Cupertino since.

And then nVidia sold a custom chip design they developed for Apple, to Samsung, to put cream on top :-)
