Use of G2M anatomical elements materials

G2M genital package comes with its own materials, pretty detailled : vascularity, hair, translucency, etc... However I've no clue how I'm supposed to use these materials. They definitely don't match the skin color of the G2M base character, and of course not of any other. Their icons bear the mention "Phillip", so I thought that maybe there is or was a "Phillip" character whose skin matched these default genitals, but I didn't find such a model in the shop.

I'm unable to alter the appearance of these genitals, I don't have the know how, and even if I could, other characters generally come with their own genital materials, so it would be pretty pointless. But there must have been a reason why these detailled materials were included in the package, and a way to use them.

What is it that I'm missing here?

  • Genesis' Michael 5 came with Phillip. Applying mats from those folders can enable a match.

They actually should match G2M Base. When G2M was created, Daz used a lower resolution version of the Michael 5 textures for the G2M base texture. As I recall, M5 UV is more or less the same as G2M UV.

For whatever reason, it wasn't until Genesis 3/Michael 7 that the texture itself was called "Michael". For Genesis, the Daz-produced textures were M5 Phillip and M5 Dave Elite. For Genesis 2, M6 Nevio and Bjorn. After that, just Michael.

Did you purchase the M6 Pro Bundle?

  • To match the one item to the other requires also matching the skin shader used. I just tried loading both and no they do not appear to match. If you check over on the Surfaces Tab you will see some colour values that would need to be adjusted. If one is using a complex skin shader for the main figure, one can make a Shading Preset of the the hip region, apply that then to the attachment. Then apply all the appropriate texture images and they'll match. If the textures are already applied, one can hold down the Ctrl key when applying a shading preset and tell the quiz box to ignore the images {not replace them}.

Indeed, I finally found Phillip in G2M materials. But no...those mats don't match the genitals, either.

The definitely don't match the the G2M base. The skin color is clearly different.

I didn't buy the M6 pro Bundle. I bought the Gianni 6 pro bundle, apparently.

No, I wasn't using any complex skin shader. Just the shaders that come with the characters. Ok, I'll try to adjust.

But isn't it weird that the detailled G2M anatomical elements don't match the G2M base character (or any other character, as far as I can tell), and shouldn't this be fixed? I'm also a bit surprised to apparently be the only one who noticed the mismatch. That's why I thought that I was maybe missing something.

EDIT: I expect most people didn't notice because they didn't use them. You can't use the textures unless you buy a pro bundle, and if you do that, you use that character's textures -- Michael or Gianni or Lee or Darius (there was a lot less of Genesis 2 than of 3 or 8) or their derivatives . For most people, Base Male/Female of whatever generation is just ... there. Comes with the starter essentials, and as soon as you get other characters, you rarely use it again.

Apologies, to clarify, by those folders, I meant the folders under Genesis, not G2M. That's where I found the skin/shader match.

You'll need to use materials that come with both full body and gen mats. Try using the Gianni 6 materials. There are also regular and SSS mats for Genesis2, you'll have to use the same ones for both zones.
