As of yesterday, when I try to open certain scene subsets, they wont load when the day before they did. Other ones will. To be specific, I continuously work on a custom character that I created over ten years ago. I have him in both G3M and G8M. Both versions have this issue. Another character I just recently started on loads just fine. I would hate to loose the character I had for ten years now. I just looked into if my graphics drivers are up to date amd they are and I shut down my computer and turned it back on.. Any suggestions?

Can you be more specific about the problem please? Do you get an error message, does it load incomplete, something else ?
It will do what it normally does, that is a progress window pops up saying reading asset. That will clear, and then it just freezes. It will become non responsive.
I just tried loading a scene subset that is just a plain base of my character, the same one I tried earlier, and after 20 minutes, it finally loaded. That is like three times normal. Idon't know what is going on with all of a sudden it takes so much lomger. I started saving everything as a scene subset because of how long it took to load a scene, and now its happenig with scene subsets.
@Boorsman if you had this character/subset for ten years, can I assume you made at least one back up? I would go back to the last back up and try that, then if that doesn't work I'd go to an even earlier back up. The other thing to look at is your log file (under Help/Troubleshooting/Log) to see if there are any hints there.
Also, were these scene or subset over-written recently, to include any kind of timeline, such an an animation or dForce simulation?
I first created this character with M4 in 2007, converted him to Genesis1 and tweeked him, then conveted him to Genesis 2, tweeked him more and converted him to G3, more tweeking him. I'm always doing some tweeking to him to get him looking more realistic and then saving him. At first I saved him in multiple scenes, then started saving him as scene subsets as many different characters, like an actor plays many different characters, so do all my "actors" I create. I have over-written the scene subset the day before, but I never try animation, and avoid dforce simulaton, though I do use those clothings, I don't apply the simulation. I looked at the log file, and saw some warnings, but I have no idea what any of that stuff in the log file means, as I'm not tech savy.
Well, a couple of suggestions for the future: apart from saving the character in a subset, I think it would help you to save him as a "Character" preset, and as a "Shaping" preset; and having at least one back up of all your files is a real time saver when things go wrong (which happens to everyone at least once).
From what you are describing, I'm going to make the guess that something has changed that affects any previously saved scene that you try to open. If that's the case, you need to track down the problem. Start by clearing your **log file, then begin uninstalling, one at a time, anything you added to your runtime about the time this problem started. It could be a new character, an imported object or a script, for example. After each change you make, look at the troubleshooting log, and see what may be related to that item. Eventually that will isolate what is causing the problem.
And keep asking questons, because it's probable that someone has had the same big in the past. We just need more information to identify it.
** Open the log in any text editing programme, then delete everything and close it, accepting the "Save file" , so the log starts fresh each time.
Thank you, Dragonfly_2004. I'll start that tomorrow.
