Some characters require other characters?

I've been looking around at the different products in the shop, and some of them stay they require other products.  Usually that makes perfect sense, like I can't use a texture add-on for an environment unless I have the environment to put the textures on.  Some characters say they require both the G8 and G3 Body Morphs, but I understand that I only need the G8 ones if I'm only using the G8 preset, so the product doesn't really require both.

The ones I don't understand are characters that supposedly require other characters.  Each character comes with its own textures and model/shape.  So why, for example, is "Rynne 8" required for "Kade for Rynne 8"?  If Kade and Rynne are two different characters with different shapes and different textures, what is the Rynne product providing that Kade would logically need? What would happen if I only got Kade and not Rynne?

If I'm guessing right, Kade without Rynne would be severely deformed, because Rynne head/body morphs have to be combined with Kade's to make the character look right.  If so, is there any particular reason they're made this way instead of having their own fully baked morphs? Or is it only to make us buy both?

They are usually made this way because the PA liked the way the addon character looked and wanted to include parts of that look into their character or they wanted to market it as part of that addon character. You can always use the character without the addon character, but the look will be different because the genes from the addon character won't be present.

Kade won't be severely deformed, but will look much different than the promo images without Rynne. Think of kade as an addon character for Rynne, not GF8

  • What happens when you do not own a base character for a derivative character really does become a hodge-podge of reactions. As a general rule, the more stylized the base character, the more it is needed to make a derivative character look like the promo images. Many derivative characters will look okay or sometimes quite good without the base. A smaller percentage will look badly disfigured. I am not sure there is a way to know in advance unless someone has tried a specific character.
