projection mapping & flat mapping not working

in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)

I'm using Carrara 8.5 pro. Trying to apply a JPG file as a texture using flat mapping and/or projection mapping. It's not working??? I even tried just adding it to a simple cube. Still didn't work. Suggestions?
