Oh .. &^*&^% CMS ...

Downloaded and installed Stephanie 6 (via DIM) and ... nowhere to be found in Smart Content. Did a db maintenance to (re)import the metadata (which I found, as I was starting to think I'd missed installing the character!) and ... still nothing. Shut and restarted DS, just in case. Nada. Went on a hunt into Content Library and nothing named "Stephanie 6" was found. Spotted one of the add-on characters (Beau) so tried a load of that to see if it'd manage to drag Steph 6 along for the ride. Nope. But we do have errors!
I now get a raft-load of:

Please don't tell me I need to blow away and rebuild the CMS database! ;)

Simon, I'm afraid that it is most likely what you have to do ...

If that database weren't nailed to the perch, it'd be pushing up daisies...

Databases were invented for one thing, to make absentminded people look sharper and in full control of everything.

And here I thought they were invented to ensure job security for the IT department...

That is just the spin-off ;-)

It has ceased to be, any statements to the effect that this is a working database are henceforth inoperative ... ;)

Yeah, I kinda guessed that was the way of it, so I made a start ... it only took three attempts before it ran to completion - the final, ok, run took just over 50 minutes. Yes, I know I should do it in chunks but no way am I going to break that amount of items up into tranches with a selection mechanism that is: all on/off and individual selection, life is too short.

Any way, all back up and running and Stephanie 6 has finally come out of the closet!

Of course! :) If she wants to take over an hour to get ready she'll have to take what she gets given ;)

Just a Friendly reminder: The FASTEST way to Blow your Database is to install content with DAZ Studio open. I'm not saying that was the Case here but it will blow a database faster than anything else I have ever done. After 3 DB recoveries I've been okay by making 100% sure DS was closed during ALL installs. That includes DIM or hand installs.

    and I totally second that

But its okay to leave CMS running in background during product installs as long as DAZ Studio is closed down... right?

I am almost certain you'd have to have the database/CMS running else there will be no inserts working :)

I usually do DIM installs with DS closed but I have a nagging suspicion with that last lot I may have had DS up and running!
