hello im a newbie to daz i was trying to shoot an action scene using a hand gun i downloaded the muzzle flash parent it to the gun but the flash stays on or off i just want it to appear when the motion of the gun is being fired
yes for daz studio 4.6 yes its an animation its muzzle flash is from share.org its a m4 and v4 riffle muzzle flash that i scaled down to size to match the 9mm that came with spy move pack
@jimmy c i tried adding muzzle flash to timeline i also try parenting muzzle flash to gun and making it visible at time of gun being discharged nothing seems to work can you add muzzle flash in daz or do you need and outside program? if you can some one plz explain how...
DAZ Studio has the Timeline and AniMate2 (timed version) or AniMate Lite (after the Time out). So I was asking if you were using the Default Timeline or AniMate.
@jaderail im using default i believe i tried adding muzzle flash to timeline but it doesnt work how do u add muzzle flash to animated action scene this not a pose im using daz 4.6 do someone have the answer?
On your Time line you ADD your Flash prop, just as you have done. Now go to the First frame and select the PROP in the Scene tab, Open your Surfaces TAB find the OPACITY channel for each material used, dial the PROP to OFF in all so it no longer appears in your Viewport or RENDERS in a test render of a single frame. Now go to the Frame you need the Flash, open the Surfaces Tab and TURN it all back on again. You turn it on and off as much as you need.
@jaderail thanks for at lease coming up with a answer because know one seems to have one not even the people @ daz support they giving me the run around i tried what you said to do before i even posted the question the problem is it stays off even after i add the key frame, its either on or off that's it oh if its any help im using animate lite or timeline but i give up daz just doesn't seem to be what they say it is i guess that's why there giving it out for free now question for Jaderail or anyone else have any one added muzzle flash or explosions using daz alone with out using another program.
In truth, most muzzle effects are usually done in post rather than as part of the main render. It's much easier to get the exact effect without compromising the appearance of the scene if you can step through frame-by-frame and make minor adjustments. Adobe After Effects is absolutely incredible for that, but doesn't exactly come cheap ($28 per month).
Incidentally, there is KeyMate for Daz Studio which gives you a much better keyframing tool if you're serious about doing animations in Daz Studio. The reason animation is more basic in DS is because Carrara is intended to fill that void.
Daz Studio is really intended for stills more than it is for animations, though it does have some basic functionality in that regard. Carrara is compatible with Daz products and has functionality for designing landscapes as well as many of the features Daz Studio boasts. Of course, the catch is that it's a paid for product.
It's well worth checking out if animation is your focus.
If the Material option does not work you can try key framing the Show in Render ON and OFF setting of the Prop. I have a ON off AniBlock that came with AniMate+ (that only came with it). I have used the Opacity thing before but not in this new version of DAZ Studio. The Show in Render should work because the ON OFF AniBlock I have still works.
if it's this much trouble to add a simple muzzle flash to a scene and it cant be done inside the program and i need adobe i guess im out of money on the up side if carrara can do all the animation and i can use tĥe daz content i bought which was a few hundred dollars, it wont be a total lost i guess..
Another option would be to scale the flash prop to 0% than scale back 100% when firing. I don't do animation but I think you may need to have a 0% scale keyframe before scaling up or it will slowly scale up in the between frames.
@jaderail what are you using for the muzzle flash did you down load the one from the link im using because it looks like a muzzle flash not a red thing blinking maybe my muzzle flash just doesnt show up on time line and i need to use something else im using daz 4.6
OH!, so the item NEVER shows at ALL. I did not understand that part. I will get that Free Item and see if I can get it to work. It will be a few hours yet as I have some other things to do first.
thanks jaderail when you do it can you give me the exact steps your doing cause i dont get how its not working ugghhhh.. @ totte hun? dont understand thanks for the reply are there any tutorials?

Sure will, I love dabbling in 3D and 3D animation. I want you to enjoy it to and not give up because it seems to hard, (it's really not, not easy but not hard either).

Can you please give a link to the item you are using for a muzzle flash?
I take it that you are doing an animation? Is this for DAZ Studio, if so, what version?
There are more than one way to do this. So knowing which way your animating will help as well.

I just used a Primitive cone, the Item does not matter, the fact it works is all that matters.

If it's not showed at all, is it showed of you have it visible and render a single image (not an animation?
