OBJ file working on Mac but not on Windows pc

Hello,so I have a third party product from Renderosity that is a OBJ file but will work with Daz Studio4.

Problem is it works fine on my Mac running Mojave but on my rendering computer with Windows 10 I just get the files without content.

Any reason for this and a solution would be helpful,

Thanks

  • Likely a path issue. You get the geometry but no texture, right?

  • No,the only thing I see is the product name in my content menu which is strange cause I have another .OBJ file from Renderosity that works fine on both computers.

  • I'm not sure what you mean - do you mean it appears in the Scene Pane but not in the Viewport? If so check the scale setting in the OBJ import dialogue, it's possible (even likely) that they diffre between systems and perhaps your Windows machine is using  value that makes it tiny.

  • Sorry,no I meant the artists name and product appear in my Content Library tab under Third Party content (geometries & textures) but when I click on them nothing appears.

  • Please post screen shots of the Content Library for both versions of DS

  • Ok ,here is the one on my Mac which is fine, the other is Windows where the product doesn't show.

The only difference I see is the location,on the Mac it's stored in Poser file under figures and Windows is Third Party Content but the Geometry and Texture paths should remain the same?

  • That looks like an instalaltion issue - the Mac has the full Poser Runtime in a content directory called Seagate, the Windows insntallation has the folders from within the Runtime in a My Third ... content directory for Daz Studio Formats, which won't show the OBJ files and couldn't correctly load the Poser files without their being in a Runtime folder in a Poser Format content directory.

  • OK ,so I should be looking for the Poser Format Runtime directory on my Windows computer?

  • You won't see the Runtime as such. The set-up on your Mac is apparently correct, do the equialent on the Windows machine (Runtime from the zip merged into a folder you have set as a Poser Format content diectory).

  • OK,I will try that,Thanks.
