Is it possible to use L.I.E. with a different UV set than the base skin?

Hi all,

Is it possible to use G8M with a character skin, but G8F L.I.E. make-up? There are some that would be interesting to try out on some punk/goth characters.

Thanks!

    No, it won't work properly.

LIE basically creates a new version of the texture with the overlay applied, so both texture and overlay need to be made for the same UVs if you want them to align properly.

You MIGHT be able to use Map Transfer tool and UV swap product to accomplish this somehow, but I don't know what the procedure would be or whether it would work.

It is possible. If it's LIE makeup, you can apply it to your male character. Then go into the diffuse and open the Layered Image Editor. Select the layer with the makeup and move it until it aligns properly.

you can use a geoshell with a transmap but it won't be flush with your skin

  • When you have larger LIE presets covering more than one surface you need Genesis 8  UV Swap

I got it working with the following steps

    1. Load the male figure
    2. Create a geoshell, make sure the geoshell surfaces match your rendering engine!
    3. Apply the L.I.E. presets you want to use on the geoshell (I used Asian SkinWorks L.I.E. Tattoos for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s))
    4. Change the UV mapping to the female UV maps on the geoshell
    5. Depending on the L.I.E. preset you may need to add an additional cutout aplha channel which I had to do
