Creating custom UV Maps for products

Hi.  It's been a long time since I did 3d art.  I am slowly getting back into it and have a question.  Back in the early days clothing and enviroment products came with a template so one could create their own textures.  I have noticed that with all my genesis 8 and the few enviroment purchases so far their are no options to create a custom texture?  Is the template installed somewhere on my mac's hard drive or do I have to purchase them seperately, and if so where.

The reason I ask is because I would like to create custom textures for Fulcrum University and several other clothing products.

Thanks for the help.  If this is the wrong place to ask please let me know.

The templates are no longer installed with the product, but can often be downloaded from your Product Library in the Account section online.
  • your title a bit misleading

just in case you did want to create custom UV maps as opposed to textures or templates using the existing ones

the way to do that is export an obj at base resolution to your UV mapping software

then load the new one under the striped menu icon under surfaces

each surface and any geoshells can have their own UV

  • Another option is to extract the uv templates using utitilies such as UVMapper, StitchWitch [if you have it, still works in W10], etc.

  • Hi.  Sorry for the misleading title of this thread.  I was very sleep deprived when I made it.  What I am looking for is how to create new textures for products.  I did look but did not see anywhere I could download templates, for either clothing or the Fulcrum university.  Any help would be appreciated as there are a number of items I would like to create textures for to keep inline with how I want things to look for my pictures.

    Cheers,

    David

RE what Catherine3678ab said, I use UVMapper {www.uvmapper.com} to create custom templates. It's very flexible and you can save the template as a .bmp file.

Wow, Fulcrum U doesn't come with templates! It used to be mandatory. Oh well. I opened D/S and located Fulcrum ... quickest way to get templates would be to browse to the texture folder and in an image editor {that works with layers} work on COPIES of those textures.

To make one's own uvmaps entails exporting out .obj files which given the size of the place would be rather time consuming. Fastest way to export out pieces would be to select and send over the bridge to Hexagon "one" selection at a time, from Hexagon export out the .obj file. Those can then be brought into uvmapper or StitchWitch or whatever and the uvmap extracted.

Since I made them you can have these two. They are for the "check in desk." n.b. I named them as their surfaces were called. For some reason they named the plaque as the plague.
