Strand based hair, geometry shells, and saving - solved.

I have been working with an older model and learning strand based hair. After reading that others use a hair cap so that strand based hair can be saved , I thought a geometry shell would work the same. I add the shell and then the hair. I saved the geometry shell using File-Save as-Wearables preset. I made sure to include the materials. However, whenever I try to apply the shell to another bee, DS crashes. Any clues to what I am doing incorrectly?
DS does not like loading strand based hair when the viewport is in iray mode.

No use geoshell. It is not the same as haircaps which are made with real mesh. That's a lovely bee btw.
If this is just for yourself you can copy out some real mesh [using a modeler] ... if it's intended for redistribution, then make a "beecap" out of real mesh. That can be added then to other bees.
