Try Re-importing your metadata. If they don't show up then it means it isn't set up for smart content.

Yes, not all products are converted to have them in smart content. It is typically older products that aren't available.

If you look in the DIM, there is a checkmark beside the installed items if they have Metadata, if there is no checkmark, then they won appear in Smart Content.

The search function in the Content Library works very well, and you can search by Filename as well as in the Database. There is also a Product Category that you can look for items in alphabetical order.

As far as I am aware and I just checked my library Urban Sprawl 2 doesn't have Smart Content as Frank said not all DAZ3D store products have, hence why many of us still use the old tried and tested Content Library Pane.

DAZ Install Manager (DIM) What most people use to install DAZ 3D Content.

DIM = Daz Install Manager http://www.daz3d.com/install-manager-info

A nice piece of kit, very easy to use if you understand that Daz Studio content can be installed anywhere you like, apart from Program Files on Windows. What it can do is install the software and content and keep both updated, Yes content gets updated, faults fixed etc etc. It used to be a RPITA to update content manually that was continually being updated so DAZ3D made this cool standalone program. Some like it, some love it and some find it hard to get their head around.

I know what DIM is I just don't like messing with it to find out if something can be put in smart content.

DIM only provides Metadata for a product it doesn't control it inside Daz Studio

If you want to create your own metadata, check my signature for a link to a guide. In it I take Toon Boy Sam's wardrobe (Poser format) into the Smart Content tab and apply all necessary compatibilities and categories. If you want to put Content Library items into Smart Content, that's the way to do it.

If your installing manually then you will need to re-import your metadata most of the time when you install. You don't need to do it with a DIM install. Installing with DIM is a lot easier than doing it manually

DIM is an excellent way to examine any items that it has installed. The checkmark in the 'Smart' column shows if it has Smart Content (or not), and you can order the list in the Installed tab by name or recently installed by date etc. etc.

Right clicking on any of the installed items also leads to a wealth of information. I often use it for checking on things.

It just takes time to learn all the little details, give yourself some time and all will fall in to place. On average it does take a few months if not a year to get there.
