I see Daz3d EVERYWHERE!

Just wanted to say kudos to Daz3d. Your new aggressive online advertising campaign is working. At least twice a day during my internet browsing I notice an advertisement for Daz3d. I see them all over the place, on all sorts of sites. You guys are really putting it out there and I think you should continue to do so. Most people dont click on something the first time they see it but if they see it enough they will click on it eventually. This must be bringing in a lot of new interest.
Now all you need Daz 3D is to develop a television commercial.
Not even e-on advertises to the masses with real television commercials.
I can see it now:
"Do you love movies, games and other forms of digital visual media? Have you ever wanted to explore the realm of CG art for yourself but felt that it might be difficult to get into without spending thousands of dollars on software and years of study, all with little to no fun while you learn? Well, Daz3d is here for you. Release the artist within. Try Daz Studio for free today! Just visit our website at Daz3d.com, download your free copy of Daz Studio, and allow your inner artist to take flight. Daz3d makes it easy with thousands of pieces of content to speed your workflow no matter what level you are on. Enjoy the incredible realism of Victoria 6 HD and make her blush when you place a muscular M6 HD next to her. Fantasty, Sci-fi, Classical artwork, any genre is at your fingertips with no delays. With Daz Studio, you become a master within minutes, and you have fun at every step of the way. Download yours today. See you soon."
I'm telling you Daz, if you could be the first ones to get a national television commercial campaign going you would reach a LOT of people you would not reach in any other way. It would expand your user-base considerably.
I'd say you'd better get on it fast. If e-on were to advertise to the masses they would have a lot of popular movie references and the like that would inspire a lot of people sitting at home with no clue about CG art to want to jump into Vue and Poser applications. So I really do think that this is a race and that if Daz gets and early start that will be the best chance for Daz.
Keep it up, Daz3d. In fact, go ahead and take it to the next level. Don't delay. Your window of opportunity is right now.
Best of luck!

It's not DAZ doing that. It's some sort of internet tracking. Someone else explained it better in another thread. I get the same thing. After I make any online purchase, the next thing I know, I'm getting ads for the site I purchased from all over the place. Before she passed, there were certain things I had to order for my elderly mother. It was disconcerting suddenly see ads for those very things and that site on the very different sites I visited afterwards.
Is it the Silverlight thing? I seem to get these adds on both of the computers I typically, use, both home and work so I figured it was a universal thing. Admittedly, I do visit the Daz website from work from time to time so maybe both computers have Daz cookies or something. Ah, darn. And here I thought maybe Daz was really upping the game. Now I'm actually annoyed. There's little point preaching to the choir. I'm already hooked on Daz software, why do I need constant reminders about V6 HD when I see her every single day multiple times already? Very interesting. Thanks for answering my questions.
No, it's just that the sites you visit put you in the group that are interested in 3D figures, in a certain narrow group probably, as far as the ad services are concerned and DAZ has paid to advertise to that group - though they are probably hoping to reach people who don't already know about DAZ, or at least who don't visit and buy regularly.
i used to have those annoyances til i found the 'hosts' file. http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm
i didn't mess with any registry keys or dns services, i just dropped the 'hosts' file in my etc folder. and i'm not on ie11, so i replaced all 'o.o.o.o.' in the hosts file to '127.0.0.1'
It's a cookie thing isn't it?
Partially yes!
There are some ad providing companies that are in wide usage and they leave/interrogate cookies about so when you look at product A on site X, you also get to see ads on things related to that product on site Y.
Yes, generally - the ad services track you by ID cookies that they see on sites where they show ads.
I saw this ad today while surfing the web. hmmmm, Daz3d dot com and I could make cg like this wow!
I certainly get them!
Yeah, whatever browser you use these days, it will keep tabs on the sites you go to often and the advertisements will be catered to your habits. It's big brother, 20 years late and more commercial.
You need an ad blocker then you won't see them. I don't get any pop up add on my PC since installing one.
I find it rather annoying personally. I do not shop here at DAZ for the most part and am here for the forums and I am still subjected to ads. I have learned that I can kill the popups but just end up with others. I am just so damn happy that Firefox, Google and IE feel the need to monitor my web browsing so they can target me for sales.
You can tell Firefox to not track in the Tool options.
It's not the browser, it's the ad agencies that carry the ads. They see only the sites you visit that carry their ads, or should.

Regardless it is still unwanted tracking and should be illegal, borderline invasion of privacy in my opinion.
Personally, between Ad-block plus and NoScript for Firefox, i dont see any at all

The problem is things like that are what make the Internet profitable to many, and without profitability, we would lose many of the very things that makes the Internet useful to the masses. Either that, or we'll start paying a whole lot more for everything.

So you would put a price tag on privacy? Yeah I am sure that most of you will look at me as some kind of kook, but in my line of work I would rather have my privacy and pay a little extra than allow sites to access my browsing history to better sell me things. Yes you can buy or download blockers but that isn't the point. We shouldn't have to, in order to keep our privacy.
There is a lot of techno-phobia going on in the world today. I recommend those worrying about their privacy to read this http://computer.howstuffworks.com/cookie.htm
There are many free-ware cookie blockers that will prevent many, if not all, cookies from sharing even the most irrelevant of data. The cookie debate has been full-throttle for 14 years now, it's not so simple to be summed up in a pocket-philosopher post, or even the 9 page article I just linked.
That being said, I use HTTPS everywhere, ABP and Disconnect.me chrome extensions.
I am hardly techno-phobic, I just like my privacy ... Is that to much to ask? Its against the law to peep in someones windows .. why shouldn't it be illegal to spy on someones internet activities. Before someone feels the need to spout off about my activities, I have nothing to hide ... I just dislike being treated like a free source of information to peddle other peoples wares too.
There are places that I visit on the Internet that I wouldn't want to brag about to some people that I know. But the fact that other people or programs notice that I go there is not a bother to me. HOWEVER, if those peepers or programs were to start blabbing or threatening to blab to the world that I have those proclivities then THAT is the crime. Not the peeping, but the blabbing. If worse comes to worse and I am harmed by the blabbing then that was the risk that I myself took.
It's perfectly reasonable to expect that should I walk into a seedy area of town and partake of (ahem...) unusual offerings there might be somebody along my path who recognizes me and finds it interesting. No big deal until they harm or threaten to harm me. Then I feel free to defend myself in whatever way is expedient.
It's all about expectations of privacy. The Internet is a public pathway. One cannot expect privacy on a public pathway. However, one can travel in a windowless unidentifiable vehicle where the vehicle is the boundary for the expectation of privacy. And when you get where you're going you need to have a mutual agreement with your destination that identifies or implies your expectation of privacy. Whining about anything less is pointless.
If one wants complete privacy on the Internet then invest in or utilize the appropriate tools, they're out there. And deal only with end-points that honor your privacy needs. But until all Internet traffic is robustly encrypted end-to-end, privacy is a fantasy. And treat all communication as potentially front page news tomorrow.
It's worth remember that DoubleClick, say, knows that ID 12623345478rfhjdfjgfnm visits www.daz3d.com, www.thefoundry.co.uk and www.girlgenius.com. It doesn't know that ID 12623345478rfhjdfjgfnm is me.
But now we all do. Unless you lied! 8-o
I was amused at one DAZ ad I saw while perusing an archaeology article. The image was one of the racier contest winners that had been cut so the racier bit- the bum was not displayed. According to the ad, I could make images like that one FOR FREE! using daz studio.
I was impressed that I could get all those props for free to make an image of a sexy pinup motorcycle queen. =-)
Anyway, I see the ads everywhere, but what amuses me, is when they pop up on sites where it looks rather funny. Don't care. Doesn't bother me. I'm actually glad to get tailored to my buying interests. It beats some of the targeted ads on facebook, which are just oddball.
Almost every second AD I get on youtube is Carrara promotion. That makes me mad. I will NEVER buy Carrara again. I got versions 5-6 and I still think it was waste of money. If these ADs were about DS or DAZ figures that wouldn't be OK but I'd feel neutral.
So, from this point of view, I take this activity very unfriendly.
That's not exactly true. Our metadata produces a digital fingerprint basically which can identify people with much less data then one would think, way less then what DoubleClick or others have. Generally, these companies probably have little reason to identify a particular person at the moment. The real issue is that the world is changing and it doesn't look like there's anything we can do about it except adapt.
Your window is private. The Internet is not. You really shouldn't do anything on the Internet that you wouldn't do on a public street in the middle of your town. :)
I like that the ads I see are relevant to me... I have checked out the latest Corel Painter webpage...so now I see Corel Painter sales Ads while browsing other sites..... and I can be notified that way of any new sales promotion I might want to check out. I would rather see those than travelocity or clothes ads I am not interested in.
I once saw some ads with a guy with a long beard and what would give anyone the idea I would be interested in that.
