"simple" tights for G8/3? + Childish shaders

Hi!

I am looking for simple tights.

like this, in a child style (I dont like the adult female versions which are most times brown...)

like this:

Also I didnt found any thights in the Store. Most times there are very long socks, a bit over the knee, but never up to the belly :(

OH and... because I am still unknowing how it works... with morphs to undress them.

And the next thing I'm looking for: Childish shaders to change textures. Are there any some?

Like this (from "Pajamathur" Abathur in a pajama/onesie (with dropseat!!!....I did buy that skin instant^^)

To make cute clothes/beds or whatever...

What you're looking for are not tights (also called stockings, which is what they're more likely called in the store), but rather leggings.

I know them as tights, Leggings are more like skinny shorts/pants.

I found this 2, but not for G8, the full outfit looks nice, but dont know if the tights are under the hotpants or are sticky to them... and IF they are just on the hight of the hotpants ...

    Found this:

    https://www.daz3d.com/morphing-pantyhose-for-genesis-3-and-8-female-s

but... they look like the brown one :( but maybe could I change them with own textures hmmm.... and it say morphs, but the previews did only show stretching morphs, but notundressing morphs :/

Oh I just see in the product list all the morphs hmmm... I mean... it could work! the question is how good they fit on G8M :D (cuz I also wanna fit them to boys; the young ones).

    AND:

    https://www.daz3d.com/tube-socks-for-genesis-3-and-genesis-8-female-s

THEY have the "childish" design which I like :D but its fitted to the clothes... so I could not use them on underpants or kids socks or whatever :/

They are tights,  leggings don't have feet,  tights do.   stocking are just legs and feet,  with no attached panty bit.   legs with no feet or panty bit are called leg warmers.

Don't own it, but this "teen" product comes with some childish shaders you could apply to the brown tights. https://www.daz3d.com/make-me-teen-for-genesis-8-females

Your best bet is probably finding shaders that have prints on them. Or making your own seamless designs and changing the UV tiling (horizontal and vertical) to 3 or more, depending on how big or small you want the pattern.

uhh the unicorn I LOVE unicorns! (I have unicrons at my walls in my home *g*)

can i just grab the shaders from one clothes and copy them over? I did try it with my tarzan outfit/mix, but the top would not look like the bottom... the top was the Throne defender armor in leather and the bottom loin clothes, but copying the shaders did not really fit...

I should test it with the Basic K4 kids pants, they have cute child designs ;) But I assume I will always have to load the clothes first, so if I buy textures for clothes I need clothes to apply them just to copy them?

Edit: OHh make me Teen IS a shader set! AWESOME!!

Edit: sad.. it doesnt work, i can not copy shaders from one clothes to another, what a waste sometimes...

I grabbed it and did try to use the Unicorn pullover.. but its a decal and the unicorn doesnt appear in my iray viewport :(

The box is empty :( hmmm maybe I can only see it from the front, but my PC can't handle the iray movement :(

Very sad... I loved the unicorn Q_Q.... and how can I define the pattern size? I guess with the geometry sliders, but I struggle there a bit :D I can move them up/down/left/right, but not scale bigger/smaller. Edit: got it, had to turn Vertical/horizontal Tiles to 5-6 to make them smaller :D

should I understand why the render makes an error? I can "load" aka open it without problems (and no irfanviewer is not a problem).

IIRC Iray decals only appear when you render, not in the viewport.

There are lots of Iray shaders in the store, some patterns would be suitable for little boys too.

@MrDarck, A workaround is to use a white (fabric) shader on whichever piece of cloth you want. Then if you look at surfaces, you'll find an overlay weight channel. Increase that and it will open up an "Overlay Color" channel. Google "free seamless patterns for commercial use" and you'll get quite a number of childish designs in the first link. Save any of them, then apply those to the Overlay Color Channel and voila :). Of course, you can also simply replace your seamless pattern with the diffuse map as well. Example below:

would it be possible, that you can show that in a video? :D

So I understand all correct :)

    @Mollytabby, my pleasure :).

@MrDarck, while a video will not be possible anytime soon, I'll revisit this tonight and do a more step by step guide with screenshots ;).

First method is replacing the diffuse map with your seamless pattern.

    1. For this, you'll need to apply any white or light color fabric shader to your prop/clothing.

    2. Next, you want to open the surface pane and select the surface or surfaces you want to change. In my example, I'm selecting the four curtains. Then you simply want to click on the diffuse map and browse to where you've saved your seamless pattern.

    3. Now you have your seamless pattern showing! Something to be aware of, if the pattern looks faded then lower the translucency channel value. Or add the seamless pattern to that channel as well.

    Step 01.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 754K
    Step 02.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 1M
    Step 03.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 1M

The second method is to use the Overlay Channel.

    1. First you want to select the surfaces you're working on, apply a light or white fabric shader, then increase the value of the "Diffuse Overlay Weight" to 1. That will open up the "Diffuse Overlay Color" channel. Set that to white and click on the arrow to open the menu. Browse to where you have your seamless pattern to apply it.

    2. Notice that the fabric doesn't change in the viewport. The drawback of this channel is that you'll only see the result once you render.

    3. Alternatively you can also use the NVIDIA Iray preview to see how it looks.

    4. The advantage of using this channel is that if your white diffuse map has details, you'll get to keep them. You can also lower the opacity of the weight channel to get a faded pattern.

    Step 01 -Alt.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 766K
    Step 02 -Alt.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 817K
    Step 03 -Alt.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 828K
    Step 04 -Alt.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 1M
    Step 05 -Alt.PNG
    1920 x 1029 - 1M

I will look over it ! Thanks already :D And why can you not make Videos? if you have Nvidia (which i assume^^) then you can simply press ALT+F9 and Shotcut is a free software to cut videos easy :)

The problem is that I work across multiple monitors. So I'd have to change my layout and lower my monitor's resolution so that things don't look tiny first. The examples I used are pretty straight-forward, though. So I believe my two posts should suffice to exemplify the use of the diffuse and overlay channels.

https://www.daz3d.com/super-dress-and-leggings-for-genesis-2-female-s - this works well with G3F and G8F.  The leggings also dForce VERY well so you can have a more realistic fit for the pose you are using.  The leggings also have 14 mat zones I think so you can do many styles with them.  And thats just the leggings.

Hmm yeah Multi screen users had also much times problems with screen sharing, like in Discord/Skype and for screenshots, always super big screenshots^^.

I had 3 Monitors too, then I reduced it back to 1... and I really miss sometimes a second screen :/

My biggest questions about ALL the textures are how they all make the different maps like diffuse and all... in blue, black/white etc... and why is it even needed -_-....

I did still not manage to read your guide, sooo much to do here on the table^^.

Hmm yeah not that bad, a bit expensive :/ The mall Girl tights are already kinda good, I think I saw such customizable tights on Wilmaps store, but could not find them now...

If I see how much I get here: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-mega-wardrobe for a bit more money, then this set looks really overpriced^^....

And G2 clothes on G8/3 hmmm can not really assume that it works so well :O

But I save it, maybe it comes in sale and I have the cash over for it... soo much to buy :D

Looks okay :D (first time tested^^ and wow, I like the clothes :D , and they are all free+morphs and the socks are as single objects thats how socks/shoes should be!....)

Thank you @Mattymanx , I've wishlisted the super dress and leggings. It's really useful to know that they work with dforce and transfer across three generations smiley

@FenixPheonix , I tried out your method before you put up the screenshots. It works perfectly and I can see my using this process a lot. heartyes
