silver cube on top of charactor in daz studio 4.12

recently have been opening new projects with new charactors and a silver cube appears on top of the charactor, now some old projects are affected, what is happening ?

Not sure why it would be there, but such things are usualy indicative of a failure to find/load geometry data for an item so you just get a 'bounding box'. I'd guess that you have either saved an asset (the figure) with the parented item or that you are loading a scene subset (or similar) in which the 'cube' is a part of the saved data.
When you say 'on top' do you mean above or enclosing the head? If enclosing it may be eyelashes (if a G8 figure) that has the issue. On top (above) suggests hair or a hat.
