Fbx to Daz?

So i'm probably being about as derpy as i usually am in some way at times Lol...but i've always been better with editing characters or models in a specific software and just importing im not really all that great with export settings with some things and usually one issue or another arises. I've searched all around but the most i've seen is Daz to Fbx information for importing into either unity or unreal engine4 etc. which isn't really what im trying to do.

It's just a few things, First - i'm wondering since all my files for what i'm wanting are individual files, if there's a way to export the model and all it has with it's individual files? OR at the most - just the models clothing, items/props (glasses are in 2 parts frames and the glass portion itself, while the headpieces are two individual files too) and hair only?

And Second - Could i use those exported files within daz when re-importing for either genesis 3 or genesis 8 use aside from just entirely remaking the items and/or figure in some other way?

Or is there a way to specifically export the items for daz use and/or model with individual items in one go when exporting? And then from there be able to apply them to daz genesis 3 or 8?

Or are there some other involved things i need to do first? Which of course i don't mind doing i love working on different things when i've had time in the past and i've got a broken left wrist (ambidextrious, so i'm good to use my right hand until my left heals up lol) So i got tons of time to work on things in general now.. i also have screenshots to show what i'm previously going on about.

I know daz has an option to export things as/for daz files but when it comes to specific settings i'm not really sure if there's anything with the file being an fbx import (which seemed to load fine into daz as you can kind of tell) that i need to check or mess with on specific settings first before i export to reinport for daz or anything like that.

I have gotten some downloads for official tutorials/classes for various softwares i own but sadly it's taking awhile as they're relatively large files and sometimes my internet speed can be MEH even though it's unlimited due to an outside issue connection that happens sometimes that my isp still has yet to better more permanently fix lol..but i digress, any assistance with my small project of sorts here is greatly apprciated. heart smiley

  • I', not clear what you are wanting to export to where, or what you want to do with it on arrival.

Richard Haseltine Sorry i thought i explained myself better i'll try again lol.

I know for a fact i can manually move/use each individual fbx file from the model around adujst it etc. and then parent it to genesis 8 male/female and whenever i move the genesis 8 figure (male or female) the fbx hair for example moved just fine with it when i manually moved into and parented to G8's head...However i want an easier way to do this...but im not sure how i should or if i need to export/re-import the files in any certain way (or what exactly i need to do).

Example: If i were to export the fbx pink hair that's in daz currently (in my image/scene), what settings would i need to use so that when i export the hair...If i were to install or re-import the hair back into daz again (after export) it would recognise the item instead as a hair for daz genesis 8 and not just a fbx hair file? (Same with the rest of my individual models other fbx files)

Are there steps i'm missing somewhere? Is there other info/specific settings i need to do this? Or am i stuck with just manually moving the individual fbx files onto my g8 figures and parenting them?

  • I don't believe that would be possible via FBX, it doesn't carry the needed information.

  • Ah alright i was just wondering! Thank you greatly for the help Richard ! =) laugh
