Where did I go wrong?
Being new to DAZ Studio I have been practising with the use of the really good tutorials. I followed the tutorial for Fiery Genesis and achieved a fairly good pre-render. The image in the view pane showed Fiery Genesis in the fiery genesis background. So far no problem.
I then followed the tutorial for rendering. I expected to have the end render very similar to the one shown in the tutorial. However the rendered image only showed fiery genesis with no fiery genesis background. The background was entirely black.(?) Does any body know what I did wrong here?
The fiery genesis back ground was not easy to find.
I have done this 4 times now with the same result, fiery genesis with no background. I would like to get this right as I am enjoying this.
Thanks for any advice or help in advance

Where did you look at the render? If you saved it, and used .png or .tiff as the format, the background may have been hidden by the mask saved with the image depending on the settings in your viewer or editor.
Thanks for the quick reply. I should have stated, I saved it in the render library as a.png file. It is when it is in the render library the fiery background appears absent, ie: black
Being new to DAZ I am not as yet familiar with what you have written "mask saved with the image depending on the settings in your viewer or editor", however, I would like to be know more about it. Where would I find this (mask) and how do I change it so the background appears in the saved image in the render library?
THANKS
Just save your render as a JPG image, and it will contain the background.
PNG (and TIFF) have a transparency channel, which JPG does not.
Thank you. Worked a treat! I can't believe that was so simple. I'm glad you know what I'm doing!
Incidentally, using the free DAZ as I am doing now is it possible to put in 2 actors in the view port at the same time?
Of course, you can put in as many characters are you want, but more characters will use more resources.
How much you can load, and render, at the same time will largely depend on your system resources, RAM being the main one, and bit depth, 64 bit allowing more leeway than 32 bit.
What OS are you using, and how much RAM do you have on your system?
Thank you. I wish I had never asked such a daft question, I've just done it!
My operating system is Windows 7 -- 64 bit with 6GB RAM
I shall soon be purchasing stuff if I can maintain my current practising progress
Many thanks
You'll soon get used to it, and it wasn't a daft question at all. Lots of new users try to load a whole mass of characters and clothing, and then run into problems.
There is plenty of free stuff to be going on with, and it is a very interesting hobby. There is plenty of help available here in the New Users Forum, and we'll always be glad to see you.
