Loading G8F characters leads to crash

Hey guys,
I've been using DAZ without any issues until a few months ago.
Yesterday, I updated the software to the newest version, because I wanted to use my newest purchase ( https://www.daz3d.com/dd-risa-for-rynne-8 ) and try it out. I'll give you some info about my situation:
> I'm using some DAZ-based content (via smart content) that I simply purchased here
> I always update and install everything DIM lists for me before starting DAZ
> I'm also using lots of content from 3rd party vendors like Renderosity and others via a folder on an external drive
> My loose specs are an i7, GTX 1060 (6 GB RAM) etc. - never had issues before
So since yesterday, DAZ fails to load any G8F models. It just starts loading, then freezes, then crashes as soon as I click somewhere inside the idle window. However, G3F, objects and all other stuff load flawless. It's not just my newly bought Risa model, but also basic stuff like the Genesis 8 starter stuff or other G8 models.
After searching the forums, I've found others who had similar issues which could be overcome by correcting the content directories (respectively limiting the entries to only those you actually use). I did that, to no avail sadly.
Should I just re-install or does anyone know a solution?
My error log is like super convoluted with lots of confusing stuff.
Any help would be very appreciated.

First thing I would do, is start studio up, go to help > troubleshooting > view log file. Hit ctr A, backspace, then control S. That will clear up your log file so you can spot any errors. Then load up the G8F figure. After crash, go back to the log file, and paste it here.
Just to be clear, what is the version number of DS that you are running. 4.12.0.86 (latest release) or 4.12.1.40 (latest Public Beta) or?
You said you installed everything DIM lists for you, but DIM has download filters that control what content is even shown to you in the Ready to Download tab. It is possible that something important is not being shown to you, but this is probably unlikely if DS had been running fine before. You can click the Download Filters button and look over what you have selected. As a minimum, you should check Daz Studio 4.5+, Install Manager, General, Software, Plugin, Windows 64 (I assume that is what you are running on an I7), Connect Available (because of some tagging bugs on some content that make that the ONLY tag applied).
Make sure you have the latest Genesis 8 Female Starter Essentials package installed with DIM. DIM shows me that the package date is 9/11/2019.
Once you capture and post the log, that will probably have some clues. I wouldn't paste all the log text into a forum message, though. I think it would be better to attach the file. It will be a lot of text. You can find the log file easily by holding down the Ctrl key when you click on Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File... Holding the Ctrl key causes Daz Studio to open a Windows Explorer window to the AppData folder containing the log file, which is aptly named log.txt.
Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date. Nvidia did a driver update mid last month that I didnt get any auto notice for, may be the same story for others.
I have encouter a crash bug like that a few times. Usually when I close or crash out of DAZ with the Geometry Editor tool active then click into an Iray Viewport on next start.
Try opening setting the viewport for texture view. Make sure you are on the Select Tool or Universal Tool. Then close DAZ, Reopen and then reset the Viewport for Iray if you wish.
Hope it helps.
I fear theres still a deeper issue with Nvidia Card compatabilties (GTX 10's vs RTX 20's) in the code for 4.12, as I constantly get OpticX Support Warnings for Iray on my log, and switching to CPU render flipping my CPU sensor to 96c turning on red lights on my board. Thats with just a minimal scene (usually w hair) on a i7 32ram GTX1080Ti 11GBVRAM. Which should not be filling up and switching to CPU.

Sorry for my delayed answer, guys. Thanks for your replies, I will try that as soon as I'm home.
I reinstalled DAZ yesterday and deleted the external drive from my content directories. Then I tried loading the base figures from genesis 1, 2, 3 and 8 - and all of them worked without a hitch. After adding my external drive back in, the freezes started again - but only for G8, both male and female. So I'm confident that it's something revolving around maybe missing or duplicate files. I'll come back here with my log!
Missing or duplicate files don't usually cause a crash. did you look at the log file? I personally have both Daz 4.12 and 4.11 installed- I use mostly 4.11 and test in 4.12 only because of Nvidia issues with 4.12 quadrupling (at least) memory usage in 4.12 version of Daz. Do you have a backup of 4.11? If you're like me with a very old computer 10 year crank machine, Daz version 4.12 memory usage may cause it to freeze and i have 16 gb ram.
Example:
Just plain empty scene load, Daz 4.11 is around 200,000k memory and 4.12.1 is 2,600,000k memory.
starting a render with just one person and hdri light only kicked 1.11 up to 800,000 and 1.12.1 jumped to over 8,000,000....
On my old machine that's pretty unusable for me, it freezes up and I can't use anything, even got a blue screen.
Makes me glad I keep updates of older versions of DS for that reason! I have 4.11 in one folder, 4.12 in another folder.
Hope you get it working out, let us know what the log said. And thanks for buying Rynne, I hope you like her and can use her! :)
