Save multiple obj's as props in one go?

Hi

is it possible to save multiple obj's as props in one go? There's 110 of them and the thought have having to save them all individually is really daunting. I tried saving the null that some were parented to but, that just saves the empty null.

Thanks.

  • As assets or as separate Scene Subsets?

Oh, as assets. I want them to be independant of the obj. I did say 'assets' when I typed it out then changed it.

BTW, what's the difference between saving as Scene Assets and Prop Assets?

    Thanks

Oh, I think I just solved it. I saved as Scene Assets. I've been a bit busy. Normally I'd try everything but I gave up at the first hurdle today. Thanks.

I've never saved as Scene Asset. What is the difference between that and Prop Asset?

A scene asset can include multiple objects, while a prop asset is only for one.

I'm not sure other than I saved the Group as Scene Asset which solved part of the problem, until I move the obj's. Thankfully I didn't delete them. When I loaded the Scene Assets they were just blocks. It must just save a link to the OBJ. I've had sets that stored everything as obj's. That must be what they'd done. Looks like I've got to rethink what I'm doing. I'll probably go the Scene Asset route though and just put the ojb's in Content Library. Unless someone can give me a better way.

Right, Scene assets is the same as Figure/Prop Asset but for multiple items.

No, they should save .dsf geometry files. What was the base content directory set to, at the top of the options dialogue?

Thanks, Richard. That is good to know.

Thanks Richard, I admit I didn't understand your questions however, the problem was due to items having the same name. The only indication was that the first lot of saved items went blocky when I added them into the scene so I concluded it was because I'd moved the obj I thought they were linked to. It was only when I saved them all again and the other set went blocky that I realised. I didn't know that Daz doesn't make the distinction between 'A' and 'a' even when the item is stored in a different folder. Thanks.
