making a prop disappear in an animation

Hey, guys. I'm doing an animtaion of a guy(robot) feeding an apple to a horse (a real one). I need the apple to disappear when the horse eats it but I can't figure out how to do it. I tried to set a keyframe and hide it in the scene tab, but it stays hidden during the entire animation. I'm sure that deleting it at that keyframe will do the same thing. So, how do I make the apple disappear without messing up anything else?

Thanks in advance

Joseph

If you want it to completely disappear, put a key frame on the x,y,z of the frame before with it showing, and the frame before that, and then on the frame you want it gone, move it out of frame.

putting keys on the two frames before it vanishes will help prevent the "move off frame" from influencing earlier positions via curve fitting.

Alternatively, scale it down to something tiny like 0.1% or less.

    0% is fine;)
