nvidia pny quadro 2000 with dforce cloth

i have nvidia pny quadro 2000

When I try to enable the option of dforce cloth i get "cloud not find a valid openCL device"

Does my video card not work with DFORCE or do I need to download something that belongs to the card drivers and install ?

And if so what should I download?

Thanks

I have an elderly machine that came to me with what had been a good CAD graphics card in 2013. It was (IIRC) a 1Gb Quadro P2000 and it was too elderly to run the OpenCL needed for dForce. Sounds as if this might be your problem. The card was too old to run any of the Open CL drivers from nVidia and was too old to run a DS compatible nVidia driver which needs to be version 430.86 or higher, while my card could go no higher than 376-ish. It looked as if it was possible to do it in CPU with installing the right drivers from Intel for my PC, but I ended up replacing the card with a second hand 6Gb GTX 1060, and the driver for that did all the OpenCL stuff as well as speeding up my renders by 10x. There is a benchmark scene that is used, and my PC went from 50 mins (CPU only) to 4 mins 50 with the new card, and it does dForce too.

To find the driver standard of your card look in the hardware settings on your machine, then do a driver search on the nVidia site. If the most recent driver for your card is lower than 430.86, it may well be worth getting a new card.

    Regards,

    Richard

  • Fermi is not supported in iRay and may not, I wasn't able to find anythind definitive with a little searching, the correct OpenCL version for dForce.

Not that a 1Gb card could do much in nvidia. Buy a newercard. Even a used 1050ti would be far better than a Quadro 2000.

  • Thanks for the answers

  • Got home and found that my old card was a Quadro 2000 rather than a Quadro P2000, so very similar chipset to yours.
