Getting Reality 4 Infos
Hi!
I wanna build a new PC up and just saw Reallity 4 and... the good thing about it is, that it doesnt require Nvidia graphic cards.
So I can buy any graphic card and enjoy realism Content? (but without having the option to use Iray as preview right?...)
The BAD thing right now for me is... there are no new infos about the software...
Since years no videos, so no infos to the actual Software, also on YT:
it seems like no one is making Videos about it, so... how should I learn this Rendering Software, if no one talks about it, not even the creator? Does it get no more support is it a dead Plugin and why? Was/Is it not successful?
I have the trouble with Nvidia Card Systems, they are most times much more expensive...
I hope to hear atleast from you guys and girls some feedback...

Reality is open source now https://forums.luxcorerender.org/viewtopic.php?t=1467
a google search for Reality stuff on the Daz 3d Forums
But OpenSource does not mean Free? (I assumed Open Source Software is alsways Free and based on Donations... like Gimp)
because in the Store does it still cost ~50$
btw. I dont use google, I use duckduckgo, because I like Chicken (wings) and Donald Duck and privacy for my Nudes :3

I looked now over the first Thread, and... I really dont wanna have so much more work, so i stay on iray.
Alright.
Paolo states on his own site http://preta3d.com/reality-now-open-source-software/ that "The open source announcement affects only developers who want to pick up the project and develop it on their own."
MrDarck,
Why the AMD video card? What advantage do you feel it will give you over an Nvidia card?
If you go with R4 and LuxRender, you will be CPU only. And you will need to set up all the materials yourself to get the best results in LR. If you have an Nvidia card, you can be sure that Iray will be usable if you want it and that 99% of the Daz Studio products sold here are Iray ready out of the box (unless they are 3Delight specific) with little or no surface modification required. Also, you can use Iray preview mode to view your changes live if you want. On top of all that, Iray is integrated into Daz Studio and you can easily save out your own materials and shader presets for it. Lastly, it is fully supported by Daz3D and the PAs here and Iray is still being developed by Nvidia.
I did edit my last post already so the thematic is anyway over ;) Nvidia have also the nice feature with offering a free capture service (ALT+Z to make a video).
And yeah, I really would hate the more work... just now I need hours for being happy with a scene... and I hope with a better PC I can use iray much better, right now is iray live view very slow...
Sorry, missed the edit somehow. I dont use LiveView either, I just do a lot of test renders.
when I start a spot render, my system goes crazy... I hate the 99% CPU/Ram usage, thats why I really need to upgrade my system -_-
I used Reality/Luxrender with DS for years befoe Iray came along and loved it. Once Iray was integrated into DS I tried it and found that the difference it meant in my workflow (speed and convienance) from having to send every part of my scene out to Reality and then Adjust the materials and shaders to doing it all inside DS with Iray was a game changer and i stopped using Reality and started using Iray only.
Yeah thats the reason why I not have really interest into Reality... I mean the fact that I could grab a AMD based System... is nice, but that is not all the work worth... also with a better system I assume will the iray preview more enjoyable.
