Hello. Firs of all, i\m a newcomer to DAZ, so sorry for bothering :)
I want to import .obj fie from 3DS max in Daz Studio.
However, after import, the geometry looks transparent in DS, but once i add a shader all become visible.

But, the thing is i want to import all from 3ds: geometry, textures, etc.
Can someone help? Thanx in advance :) and a nice day to you all.

If the imported OBJ already has material zones, it shouldn't take long to reconfigure the model in Daz Studio to find the textures that belong to it. The transparency is a new one on me, but as it vanishes when you apply a shader I can only assume it's a surface setting for opacity. If that's the case, then sorting out your own surfaces should fix those problems in the long run.

If you're using Max 2010, this seems to be a bug. (I don't know if they fixed it later versions).

What's happening is the .obj is being exported with transparency on all materials set to 0%. It's pretty annoying, but you can fix it by saving a Shader Preset in Daz Studio, then applying it to all imported .objs.

    1. Either import an .obj or use a cube primitive in DS.
    2. Select the obj/cube and set any one material to Opacity 100% (I also set Diffuse to white, etc).
    3. In the Save dialog, choose Shader Preset and save it.
    4. When you import an .obj, select it + all the materials, then apply the Shader Preset.

Is the .obj file being saved with a matching .mtl (materials) file? This is how applied textures are set up for an .obj mesh object — when the .obj is imported into D|S, the .mtl file is read as well.
