Experiencing fit issues with "Boho for G3F" on a G3F character. [sort of solved]

...not sure what the issue is but for some reason I cannot get Boho for G3F to fit properly to a G3F character.  The really vexing part of this is that I used previously fit it to this same character (a custom one I created) before with no trouble at all.  When I select the character and click on any component, autofit seems to just quit part so the way through.  I can successfully fit outfit it to another character (which I did), and have no trouble fitting other clothing the character in question (which I also experimented with using several different outfits), just not this particular one for some unexplainable reason.  Feeling there was possibly some sort of corruption to the content file, I first uninstalled and reinstalled it, then uninstalled  deleted, downloaded, and reinstalled it, but both times the same thing occurred.  When I look at it in the Scene Tab, it parents correctly to the character, but for some reason refuses to finish fitting (the sleeves and top of the blouse end up below her arms and shoulders while the skirt does not come all the way up on her hips).  AM also usingthe same version of Daz (4.12 beta) where it worked in before.

I have never seen this occur before and have no idea how to fix it and could really use some help or information as to what might have broken the fitting process..

  • So the dalogue pops up asking for options and the process satrts, but some parts are not correct? Is the character using scaling, or dForms? Are these whole parts of the outfit not fitting (separate figures) or are some parts of a single fgure working and not others?

...no dialogue appears since the character is G3F and the clothing is made for G3F.  A dialogue only pops up if I'm trying to fit clothing from a different generation to G3F.  What scaling is involved is due to a character shape (Zev0's Molly) and the Growing Up morphs. I tried rescaling the character to 100% but that does nothing.  I don't bother with dForce because I have old hardware.

I even tried using the Transfer Utility as well as adjusting the Growing Up clothing support slider to 100% then to 0%, but neither solved the issue. The other odd thing is if I have nothing selected as the fit target and load the clothing, it still defaults to fitting to the character though is not parented.

What appears to happen is that the process seems to stop short of fitting to the arms and shoulders so the sleeves are still completely below the arms and the neckline just below the bust line (which is why I cannot attach an image) after autofit quits.  I am fitting to the default "T" pose as well.

One thing I did notice is that the vendor is Aave Nainen who often used a wide range of fitting/motion morphs to better drape long skirts & flowing sleeves. When I wnt through my inventory of G3F clothing, the only other product I have from the same PA for G3F is the Belle Dress which does the same thing.  I then experimented with loading each piece of of Aave's G2F clothing to the character that I have, and it all properly converts and fits just fine, so this is why I am at a total loss as to what is going on.  Again, as I also mentioned, when I tried loading it on a different custom character I created (which also uses some scaling) it fit perfectly fine.

So you have a problem with auto follow (adjusting to morphs), not autofit (fitting another figure).

Posting a screenshot should be ok if you change the display mode to greyscale (smooth shaded).

...so how is auto follow corrected?

Attached is the screenshot of the viewport in smooth shaded view mode

...looking the attached image above, any suggestions on...

    A. What is causing this.

    B. How to resolve this.

Are the clothes just fitted or parented too? It looks a bit like they're too small, and if you used some full body scaling they might have "inherited" it twice from both parenting and fitting.

...it both fits and parents to the character.

As to scaling, the character's height has not changed from when I was able to successfully fit the clothing to her before.  I would think that uninstalling the outfit and doing a clean download and re-install would have done away with any corruption that may have occurred and reset the outfit to its normal default, but apparently that didn't work. It also wouldn't explain why It fits fine to any other base character or even another custom character of mine who also has some full body scaling but is slightly taller (see attached screenshot below). If there is something to do with how the mesh is scaled when fitting and parenting, then the same should occur no matter who I fit it to. I did use Measure Metrics to check the proportions of the character, but that should not have affected the clothing as I had the character selected.

...and again a clean download and install should have fixed whatever went wrong as the mesh would have its base default proportions and settings again.

The only other thought I have is something, some setting  was changed as to how autofit/autofollow is treating this particular character just for this particular outfit and the Belle Dress and I am at a loss as to how to fix it.

    ..update:

Well went back to poking around at it and after reading what I could about scaling and shape following

I right clicked on the dress in the scene tab and selected and fit "none" (couldn't just load it wit no target specified as it still automatically fits to the character), which opened up a number of hidden FMBs and PBMs that didn't show when fitted and parented.  One of the FBMs was for the Molly Body base I used so I set that to 100% then refit the dress to the character, and after turning on smoothing, it fit properly. The odd thing is after fitting it I clicked on Show Hidden Properties and noticed the Molly Body parameter was set to 200% while all other FBM/PBM settings matched matched those used for the character.  When I reduced the parameter value to 100%, the fit issue returned (in the FBM parameters for the character Molly Body is set to 100% and there are no other "character" shapes mixed with it, so not sure why Auto follow kept ignoring my original setting since the last time I fit the dress to this character). The inly thing I can think of was while still developing her shape I reduced the percentage of the base Molly Body when experimenting with mixing other shapes and somehow that is what messed things up.

Be that as it may, a very odd and frustrating situation indeed. Don't like having to just keep pushing buttons until something works, push the wrong one....
