Daz 4.7 Suddenly stopped working

Yes, I'm still using the old 4.7 and it's working fine.

Until today, it just don't want to start anymore.

When I run the program, the loading screen pops up then you see the whole DAZ program/interface for a few seconds then crashes and closes down.

I got this error screen -> https://imgur.com/a/YwnprzZ

Last I used DAZ was just 3 days ago.

No new softwares installed, no system settings or anti-virus configured/edited whatsoever. Sadly, there's no system restore points for me.

I tried restarting multiple times, didn't work.

So what seems to be the problem?

  • That's an OpenGL error, so my fist suspicion would be a slent driver update or, if you have a CPU with an Intel GPU and also a stand-alone GPU from nVidia or AMD, that the GPU used by DS had switched somehow (if applicable, check the nVidia/Catalyst(AMD) control panel that can ber launched from a right-click on the desktop).

So I'm checking my NVIDIA Control Panel.

On the left sidebar, under "Select A Task"

    - 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings

    - Then there's 2 tabs, Global and Program settings. I clicked Program settings.

Weird enough, DAZ isn't in the list. Probably the reason why it's not working because it suddenly disappeared from the list perhaps?

    - I manually added it

After adding DAZ in the list, the settings are default, what do you suggest?

  • Default should be fine. If it isn't you can go in and specifically set DS to use your cards.

  • When I add "Daz Studio Application", hit apply and close the NVDIA  control panel, DAZ disappears from the list once you open NVIDIA control panel again.

So of course, DAZ won't start and just crash.

When I add DAZ in the pogram list, It just disappear from it right after I close NVIDIA control panel.

Am I missing something? Or there's another workaround about this problem?

    [edit]

OK so.. if it just suddenly disappear from the list... doesn't it just use NVIDIA's global setting in general? but then again, daz just won't start and crash after seeing the interface for a few seconds.

What version of Windows are you using?

  • Win 7 (64bit)

Okay, that would rule out a Windows update sneaking something in there without you knowing it. The error seems to be associated with QTOpengl4. It is possible that the module itself or one of the files that it is calling has become damaged or corrupted somehow. It may be purely a software issue or it could be hardware-related. Do you have the installation file for DAZ Studio 4.7?

  • Unfortunately, no. I didn't keep the install file for 4.7

I read here in the forums that there was a case that their saved models got deformed after updating DAZ to a newer version so as much as possible, I want a fix for this. Uninstalling 4.7 and Installing a newer version would be my last resort.

You may also try reinstalling the cpu and gpu drivers. Then as a last resort you may try running daz studio with the integrated gpu just to get it start. Also you may check your hardware with a benchmark to see if it's ok.

As for 4.7 you may ask the daz support for a copy if you need it.

Do you have DIM installed? If you do, you may have installation files for 4.7 tnrough that.

  • I don't have DIM.

If I remember correctly, I got DAZ from the shop, which is free and downloaded the installation file, not through install mangers.

I also updated my NVIDIA driver - DAZ now appear from programs list in NVIDIA's control panel but still couldn't run DAZ. Still crashes at start up.

I guess I have to uninstall 4.7 and download the latest version.
