Decimator: decrease polygon number except on the anatomical elements area

Good morning everyone, smiley

Do you know if it is possible with the decimator to decrease the number of polygons on Genesis except on the genitals which must remain in high resolution?

I tried in the "weight" tab of the decimator but I can't find the "genital area".

Thank you.

  • You would, I think, need to select the hip and maybe the thigh bones.

  • Thanks, but I can't find the "Hip" surface, see picture below.

  • Sorry, I was thinking it had bone selection groups too. I'm afraid Torso is as precise as you can get, unless you use the Geometry Edtor to create additional sub-surfaces. Do note that in any event the Anatomical Elements are not part of the base figure.

Thank you, do you know how to create additional subsurfaces? Do you know any tutorials?

Edit: I managed to create a surface with Geometry Editor that appears in the "surface" tab but it doesn't appear in decimator... Do you know why?

    I do not have decimator.

But anatomical elements is a geocraft and thereby not directly a part of G8F, so have you tried selecting that in the scene tab?

The genital part is original here's a picture to better understand...

Why when I create a surface with geometry editor it leaves a white mark (see picture)

Having created a new surface group you would need to reapply the base shader and then copy the settings from the Torso (or save a Shader preset from the Torso and apply that to the new surface).

  • Thank you, I didn't know not to publish those kind of photos.

Can you explain to me how to reapply the base shader and then copy the settings from the Torso because I'm a beginner?

    1. Open the Surfaces pane, go to its Editor tab, from the list of surfaces for the figure select Torso.
    2. File>Save As>Shader Preset.
    3. Select the new surface, with the figure still selected.
    4. Double-click the preset you just saved.
  • Thank you so much, I made it.

In the decimator, when I click on "prepare to decimate" my new surface appears... smiley

I've decreased the number of polygons on Genesis but in the weights tab when I put "100" in my new surface nothing changes... normally this new surface should stay in high resolution... is that right? Do you have an idea ?

  • As noted, the Anatomical Eelments is not part of the base figure. In any event, isn't it 0 to leave the mesh untouched (sorry, I've not made much use of Decimator)?

  • ok thank you very much
