Why is the hair doing this?

Hi all. So I'm not sure what i am doing incorrectly to get the hair to function this way. I deleted the hair then tried to attach it again. I'm also using different shaders to see if that helps, and it doesn't Of course, I'm selecting all part of the hair for the shader, and not just one. The cap/error stays at this color, no matter what I do to it. Under Texture preview, I do not see the cap going red in the slightest, only in Iray Preview and the final render of course.
Thank you for your time.

Seeing other weird stuff too. Like hair not even rendering in Iray, but I can see it in the Texture shaded mode?
MRL dForce Long Layered Hair for Genesis 8 Female with Colour Mixing
Heres what I'm seeing
The black forehead would be from the skullcap of the hair. One can select it and resize it to be smaller so it is more inside the head. Or zero the opacity?
Tessellation was set to 0 by default
Had to set both Tessellation settings (one for the viewport & another for final rendering) to 2 or above for it to start rendering in the view port and when rendering.
