Mercenary Outfit: Unable to select polygons with Geometry Editor!

Just purchased the Dain 8 Pro Bundle, which includes the prop: "Mercenary Outfit for Dain 8 and Genesis 8 Male(s)".

However, I dislike the yellow smiley "Watchman" type badge that is stuck on the front of one of the vest magazine pouches. Can't find an option to hide it, so tried to use the Geometry Editor to select the polygons to make it invisible.

For some reason, I am unable to select the polygons! Would appreciate if anyone can advise me on this. frown

  • Are you sure the pouches are part of the selected figure?

  • I am selecting the vest in the scene pane (which the badge is definitely part of), but it appears weirdly put together. I can select and hide part of the pouches, but it looks like as though the model has not been organised correctly.

Thank you. I am no 3D modeller (yet!), but I am investigating with Hexagon. Would appreciate any assistance you can provide. Personally, I think it is poor quality to ship this product without options included to hide the badge, etc. Seems rushed to me, which is a great shame as I have waited years for a contemporary assault vest that looks realistic.

Ok, it's a bit mis-leading as despite looking liek the badeg is attached to the surafce with vest_pocket3_MAT, all surfaces share the same diffuse material file.  The badge also has a back, and the pin, and it IS an absolute swine to 'dispose of'  I've pretty much manged, but only by using manual selection (not by using Ctrl-+ to expand the selection) with Selection Type being Polygon, and Selection Mode being Lassoo, and then Ctrl-Clicking on each individual polygon at a time to slowly expnad the slection and, from time to time (liek after picking all the yellow smileyface front) using Geometry Visibilty> Hide Selected Polygons.  Painstaking, but feasible!  Good luck.

Thanks, Simon. I managed to select the badge in Hexagon with similar issues to what you described. I moved those polygons to a separate surface region and then made that invisible. What a pain!
When I have a moment I will try emulating your steps within Daz Studio. Why oh why did the creator not offer this as an option? Seems a rushed job to me.

I now precious little about the actual modelling and even less about UV maps) but I do not think this was rushed, perhaps not fully thought out as far as 'simple' options may go.
