Will G3 hair work on G8?

You can autofit it & it will look OK for most cases but doing that strips out any hair rigging for the hair morphs that use those hair rigs.

So in other words, the hair could not be adjusted using the included morphing dials ?

G3 hair works fine on G8 in most cases. Do this, with no figure selected, load the G3 hair you want. With it selected, click the 4 little lines in the upper right of the pane and go to EDIT - then scene identification and in the bottom drop down menu change it from genesis 3 female/male to genesis 8 female/male and click ok. Now the hair will work on G8 without autofit and all the morphs will remain intact

FSMCDesigns beat me to it. I think this is the reason a lot of PAs are still releasing hairs "for G3 and G8" - having produced a hair for one figure, the "conversion" to the other takes 30 seconds.

Pound to a penny Daz spot this, and put something in Genesis 9 that stops such easy migration going forward.

I too was curious about not just using autofit but not sure what to do after following the steps posted by @FSMCDesigns .... I still just have floating hair. Am I supposed to move it to the character (I assumed it would just fly to the nearest head laugh) or is that particular hair now forever associated with G8 characters too?

Hi, You have to parent the hair in place on the figures head. I am still learning all this as well and hopefully it can be fully explained by a seasoned DAZ user

If you change the scene identifier, then you can fit it as normal and there won't be an autofit box popping up, it will fit like any other made for that figure hair.

You should only parent the hair when all else fails

If you want to batch all your G3 hair to work on G8, then this product does the same as what i posted ealier only for all your G3 hair

Thank you both :) ahhh now that item makes a lot of sense. I couldn't figure out why someone would want to buy a converter when there was auto fit. I just assumed auto fit was relatively new and the item useful before auto fits release. I'll definitely look more closely at it and the other converters I saw- thanks!

unfortunately you will find lots of products that do the same things that you can do yourself in DS, like changing the scene identifier. With all the one click options in the store, it has made many users lazy to where they would rather spend money than take a moment to do it themselves,

As for the converters from the PA I posted, I had to return a few because the conversions were not as good as what i could get with clones and autofit, so just be wary and know there is a 30 day return policy.

Ahh good to know and much appreciated. Daz feels (to me at least) like a new language I'm trying to learn mainly by immersion but having a lot of fun learning for sure :)

Does this trick work for body hair too? Someone hinted at this for shooes but I didn't know what they actually meant. I didn't know about this at all! Thank you for sharing.
